When I think of a high school principal I think of a person that possesses certain attributes. This person should possess leadership qualities in order to provide an educational climate that promotes a healthy and productive learning environment, as well as the required certification and education for the position. Yes these things come foremost but they should also possess knowledge of current trends as it pertains to curriculum, the interest in fostering good school-community relations, sets goals for their school that promote student achievement and growth, be solution oriented and be able to make decisions that can mitigate or fix common or unique problems that may arise with students, they should be cognizant of the importance of student attendance and how problems in a child’s home can hinder cognitive and psychomotor development, and overall they should possess the ability to make sound decisions as it pertains to the welfare of the students in their school. With all of this being said, my question for the public is if your child’s school principal, who together with their spouse violated a legal obligation by abandoning a 10 year old child, leaving her on the doorstep of a relative of the child’s, not knowing if anyone was home, would be able to care for that child or if it were a even safe environment for that child, do you believe that your child’s principal has your child’s best interest at heart? According to Pennsylvania state law, child abandonment is where a parent takes off, leaving his child behind, and does not contact or make care provisions for that child, which in this case constitutes as such. Not only is it illegal in the state of Pennsylvania but it can also cause irreversible affects for the child such as problems forming meaningful relationships, expressions of violent acts which sometimes lead to criminal behavior, self-esteem problems as well as trust issues. All of this is, by PA state law, classified as a first-degree misdemeanor and is punishable by a fine in Pennsylvania. However, child abandonment can rise to the level of a third-degree felony punishable by a fine or imprisonment where the abandonment endangers the welfare of the child involved. If you knew that your child’s school principal was guilty or even capable of such acts would you be in the least bit skeptical of them serving in a leadership position in your child‘s school? In my opinion someone that cannot hold their own child’s or even stepchild’s safety and/or best interest at heart surely will not have my child’s best interest in mind. How much influence should one who breaks a law as it pertains to child-welfare have in the implementation of curriculum and activities that are meant to enhance overall development in children? Someone who would abandon a child and possibly place them in harms way clearly does not possess good decision-making attributes and shouldn't be able to work anywhere near children even if it is teenaged children. You be the judge Kennett Square because this principal is in one of your high schools, serving in a leadership position all the while breaking the law.

That principal and her spouse she have their faces plastered on the 6 o'clock news and made to explain the situation. But no answer would be the correct answer for doing such a thing. This child must be mentally scarred because I am for this child. 10 yrs old, left on a doorstep to watch parent drive off. Who does this? This certainly is child endangerment and both parent and step-parent need to be help accountable and charged criminally.
