I was under the impression that it was SET IN STONE that no mobile homes of any kind inside the City limits and now suddenly one of the City's Departments has one parked front and center beside the fire station. It appears as it may be more than a 'temporary' thing as a concrete pad has been poured for it to sit on. Why is it that only the 'City' can break the 'City' rules?

Actually you can change out a trailer if you pour a pad UNLESS it already has footings poured where the frame blocks are to be set. Its has to meet the state guidelines. Also when changing one it has to be done in a timely manner. I think its 30 days from meter disconnect til new inspection and if it is a trailer that's been sitting a year without utilities it can never have utilities hooked to a trailer on the property again. You have to build or leave vacant. Also any trailer replaced has to be same size or smaller no matter what size lot you have. Of course they will tell you anything according to who you may be to try to discourage some while letting more prominent individuals get away with it. The thing is anything they allow others to do or do themselves affects their ordinances. If like the trailer you speak of is placed on property not previously inhabited by one you can also. If they go bigger as they have since it never had one you can also. If they break any stipulation or code for themselves or others take note of it and you can also otherwise you can lay complaint and lawsuit after going to the city council and requesting a variance to do the same. They cannot deny what they have already allowed after an ordinance was passed. Make your claim exact with example at council and in writing presented to council so it has go be documented for further scrutiny if denied. The other thing is try to get a reporter for paper there and advertise situation everywhere. Yes even topic because they would lead you to believe topix isn't considered a threat to them but past experience has proven it is very much so.

NOTE: They have broken most every part of the ordinance on trailers in kennett by putting this one in except the actual condition of the dwelling. Keep that in mind but do what you will quickly as a new ordinance will be shortcoming after people start hooking up. That to can be overcome since they waived ordinance now they will have to then but easier if you do it now otherwise you may need a lawyer to fight it. If you uses lawyer make sure in the suit they stipulate reimbursement of lawyer fees by the city to you since they would be wrong. Use their own tactics against them.

Apparently you don't attend council meetings or read the DDD about what the meetings are about. Before you go putting your educated hypothesis out for all the world to see, do some research on what is going on in your town.

Well actually I do on occasion. I also understand ordinances and how they are manipulated and can be set aside with case point but you go ahead and educate us on how city can do what they want with public property we pay taxes on and then refuse to let us do same on private property we pay taxes on. Basicly kennett tries to run a town where we pay mortgage, taxes, and insurance but never own our property enough to control it yet and turn around and do same with property that payed for by citizens also. We are listening. Make it justifiable. These are the facts. Remember I said nothing wrong with them putting it there except it requires a variance they try to steer others away from. Ordinances don't mean anything when on whims you change them to meet political and taxation needs but leave citizens out in the cold on property improvement.

Actually, please read the paper's article and obtain a copyof the past few city council minutes before passing judgement. I am certain the men of kfd do not relish the fact of having to stay in a mobile home, but are willing to do so in order to continue services.

My posting wasn't about fire department needs nor was the original persons who started thread. It was about sliding city past the ordinances and then letter of the law for citizens as far as trailer ordinances. You can't pick and choose who abides by the ordinances. Not legally anyway. Heard a council member and code enforcement officer say they were getting rid of all trailers inkennett by ordinance and then pull this. Our town leadership is so corrupt.
