do not do this.I use Hughesnet, and the fair access possible limits your usage, Hughesnet is a rip off. 125 for a pole? 200 plus down payment? 2years service agreement?

When you got over your "fair access policy" megabyes you are allowed they turn off your interent basically, you are slowed down to a speed so slow that it's not worth even trying.
The speed is slightly better than the best dial up. No online gaming the lag is so bad you'll never be able to play.

A complete rip off, do some research on Hughes net fair access policy.

They do have a fair access policy. They also have free download times that you can use, so that you do not use up all of your download time. It is better than dial up. It also depends on the package that you have as to how much download time you get. If you are not happy with yours...you might wanna upgrade to the next package.

so basically your are paying a higher price monthly than you can get charter cable which is much faster and dependable. And for this service which is satelite and dont work very well in the rain if it works at all, you have limited acess regardless of what package you have. Gosh, it seems it would be more cost offective to have dial up at 10.00 bucks per month with UNLIMITED acess or charter HIGH SPEED CABLE for only 45.00 per month that dont go out in the rain.

This is made for more rural communities that do not have cable or dsl service avaialable to them. I never said that HughesNet is better than either of these service. We are just providing a service to those people who do not have these options avaiable to them.

I have the Pro package 375 megabytes, that like 12 youtube videos watched that's it. The unlimited download time is 2 o'clock to 5 in the morning, no normal person is going to wait up that late just to actually use teh internet.

I pay 90 bucks a months for this service I paid 40 dollars a month intown for unlimitied bandwith and megabytes, and a faster speed, with ATT.
Hughesnet ripsoff people whom have no other choice but to use their service.

So they can take advantage and charge expensive rates and limit bandwidth?

Hughes Net IS A RIP OFF !! I pay 80.00 a month and If I go to youtube at all, I'm shut down for 24 hours !! Plus if you call support they hand you over to a forigner THAT YOU CAN NOT UNDERSTAND at all! There is a new satilite company coming through pemiscot county called Black Sheep I believe they are putting sites up on the water towers! It should be here with in a couple of weeks. I have a tower within 1/4 mile and i'm switching over!! NO FAIR ACCESS policy and 45.00 a month. Only 50.00 hookup fee!!
I can't wait!!!
Don't go to hughes net!!! They are NOT worth the monthly fee and hookup!

Black Sheep isn't a satellite based ISP. They use the same technology CLGW uses for their wireless service. It's just wireless it doesn't use satellites.

All I know is they said satellite services would begin in march. they made a deal with consolidated water. and they said it would be faster than hughes net. So guess we'll see how it goes.
Cosmo wanted to hook up with consolidated water but blacksheep got the deal.

No satellite internet at present will allow for interactive gaming because of the high ping rates. However, Hughesnet is working on some new technology that will be announced in the new future.

If you would like to see more detailed information and discuss in person, we are going to be at the 30th Annual Merchant's Showcase on April 17th & 18th in Poplar Bluff. We'd be glad to talk to you and answer any questions. Stop by and see us and register to win a free HDTV!:)
