1 Sokoloff probably should have either talked on camera or, better still, not talked at all. He didn't really do himself any favors with that interview to my mind. Is this case going to be heard in Dunklin County, or has it been removed to another place, like Cape Girardeau or Popular Bluff or even St. Louis county? |

1 The story doesn't seem balanced and the newspaper seems to be biased toward the arrested woman and her family's version of events. |

1 This young lady had a bright future. Not enough of our young people are in college much less heading to med school. Especially our African American youth. I think something could have been worked out. It’s obvious a college student is going to be greatly hurt by any charges whether they be misdemeanor or felony. Not many young African American women from our area receive the opportunities that this girl has. I hate to see her future to turn out this way. This young lady and our community would have been better served by some good old fashioned common sense. I believe on all parts. The girl’s, the officer’s and the prosecutor’s. I would have been happy if they let her go with no charges but she was then required to spend all her College breaks and summers lecturing to underprivileged children in our community on how one bad decision can rip away all your dreams and your future. If this common sense approach been applied, we would not have had civil rights marches in our streets, bad press for our city, and we would have saved some tax payers bucks on this trial. This girl and perhaps countless other children would have a bright future. Most importantly, lessons would have been learned by all. |

1 Point 2= You wouldn't have cut in my line, as I unless I had 1 or 2 items, would have let you. Point 3= her behavior was not one of a University student, but of something other learned. Point 4= Not much else to point out, she was in the wrong, and thats all. KPD we stand with you! |

1 I agree with much of what you've said here. The situation could have been handled better on all sides and certainly shouldn't have reached the point it's at now. I get the sense folks on both sides of the equation became very stubborn and dug in on their positions. Now Sokoloff's getting bad publicity and, if he's not lucky, may end up being subjected to disciplinary action, and this young woman has had a major curve thrown into her plans. She can probably pick things back up at some point, but the path won't be as smooth as it should have been without this incident. If there's video footage of what happened in the store and in the parking lot, I'm surprised it hasn't been released. Part of me wonders whether the footage is as much of a slam-dunk for police as some would have us believe. If it were, I'd think Sokoloff would have managed to have it released or leaked to media, unless there's some news blackout order. And that can't be the case, or Sokoloff and the family wouldn't be talking to media. My guts says there's more to this story than we're hearing. I had one inclination when I first read about the story on Topix, but now my inclination has shifted after seeing that news clip. Again, I'll be interested to see how it all turns out. |

1 You are forgetting that this is Kennett that is being discussed here. Be best if some rich people get together, buy the entire town, bulldoze and plow the place under, then grow soybeans where Kennett is now situated. The entire city of Kennett sucks big time! |

1 When I go to Walmart my husband we stand together in the same line. He doesn’t stand in one line, while I’m in another. We don’t hold the place in two lines waiting to cut in front of others for a faster wait time or line. They felt self entitled. Better than everyone else, like they don’t have to wait in line. And when they were called on it, all hell broke loose. There is a huge widely known and publicized problem with this younger generation feeling self entitled. I believe that was what this situation was. |
