Hi, My name is Don Turner and I recently had the unbelievable task of watching my father lay in the ER at twin rivers regional medical center in Kennett MO. on Dec 18th. My father arrived due to problems with no energy and had been talking incoherently. My father has a long list of medical ailments ranging from 2 open heart surgeries, He has had an 8lb tumor, spleen and kidney removed because of cancer. My father has also had his leg disfigured in a motorcycle accident. And he is highly diabetic.

My father had sat in the ER for nearly five hours as nothing was getting done for him. Every time we asked about the situation we were told every thing looks fine. I would tell them that the O2 level keeps dropping on the monitor and they told me it was fine. They decided to move him to ICU even though every thing was fine, so they said.

Now in between the time that he was not at our side or in our view in ICU he began to pour blood from his mouth and nose. When they finally told us that they had got him stable they proceeded to tell us he had gone into renal failure and that the lack of oxygen had most likely created brain damage and that they had to put him on a respirator so he could breath.

They began to tell us that we should not try to revive him because with lung cancer patients it is probably best not to revive them because it could crush his ribs and leave him in more pain and suffering. I then became more upset and said I wanted him in Memphis where we new he'd get some help. They did everything they could to keep us from doing it.

The next morning after talking to his doctors in Memphis they air vaced him to Baptist east. Before moving him they removed the breathing tube and reinserted another for the flight. Not once did they take out his dentures and he was choking on his teeth. They made the discovery when they removed the tube in Memphis. They also found that he was suffering from pneumonia. He is still not out of trouble as he is still in ICU and hopefully he will recover. My prayers are in overdrive from my dad and this makes for a sad Christmas.

So I'm asking all of you out there that has a story to tell about the bad treatment and poor experience that you have had at twin rivers regional medical center in Kennett MO. and sign this petition to have Dr. Jamoe-as and Dr. Mona as well as the administrator of the hospital removed from their duties at the hospital.

Thank You.

I feel your pain and agree with you except firing the Administrator.

I had a bad experience out there back in the summer. I was feeling fine that day till about 8:30 that evening. I got up to go pee and nearly fell out before I got back to my desk. I was so weak. I sparingly use oxygen but after that I couldn't get let it go. I put off going to the ER till the next morning. Like your Dad; I sat in the ER for 8 hrs before they gave me a room. Dr Dale Lockhart was my assigned doctor. I must wear compression stockings due to swelling in my legs. He told my wife to pull them off. My left leg had puffed out like a balloon overnight. Things got so sorry that I signed myself out and went to the NEA hospital in Jonesboro. They told us that Kennett gave me the wrong antibiotic and it caused what infection I did have to spread throughout my body. I was down there for three weeks on the strongest IV antibiotic there is.

I don't know what has changed things so much now because not many family doctors will no longer care for you in the hospital. I see Dr Valerie Smith but she can no longer care for her patients while in the hospital. Most hospitals hire their own doctors full-time to care for inpatients. It's bad because they know nothing about you.

I hope your dad recovers from this lack of attention. You did the right thing taking him to Memphis.

First let me say i hope your loved one gets better soon. You need to check the names you are saying because there is no Dr. Mona ???? at that hospital. While i understand your concerns i don't believe that topix is the place for this to be settled. If you feel you have a problem go see the CEO yourself or talk to an attorney. I was just told that the Kennett hospital is the #1 hospital in this company, so i don't think you will make alot of progress with the issue you have by seeing what everybody on topix thinks. Just my opinion. Good luck

Most people refer to Twin Rivers as the "Helipad" because its basically the place to get first aid and then get transported to a real hospital.

I blame this on management , not the nurses and doctors.

I do believe they are trying to make it a better hospital. They have several cardiologists here now. They spent big money on the new MRI & etc. They need to improve on the ER and inpatient services.

Did you say you told them in ER that your father's O2 level was dropping then??? And that they said it was ok??? It sounds to me like the persons in the ER failed to perform their duties, got in a hurry, whatever the case... it's inexcusable.
Please add MONDO pain and suffering to your lawsuit, and good luck know that God will not give you more than you can bear...my prayers are with your family!!!

Yes Gotta Know, I did. It would drop down and the numbers would be in a red box surrounding them. My dad was laying there gurgaling from fluid in his lungs. They told us the chest x-rays were fine. That his CT was fine. And right before they moved him to ICU they tell us he has cancer, HA, No Shit! REALLY! So thats why he had a cancer treatment the day before, hmm, pure freekin' genius.

I'm so tired and my mind is in overdrive. And I'd like thank all of you for your prayers. They are well excepted and can use as many as we can get.

I will drop another link again to the petition so everyone can see it. For those who say I should not post this on topix, I can't think of a better way to reach more Kennett area residents for this petition to reach out too.

Thank you again for all your support.
God Bless And May You All Have A Very Merry Christmas..

The Dr. Mona that he is referring to is Dr. Mona Tomescu. She is a Dr. here in town and sometimes works the ER.

Good luck with yall's cute little petition. And I hope it convinces you all to go elsewhere so that if me or my family are having an actual emergency, we will be able to go to the Kennett hospital and be seen much faster due to you all congesting the waiting area of some other facility. Your plan is such a well organized and well thought out effort that I'm sure it must succeed. In the meantime, me and my family will stay will the same hospital and doctors who have taken care of us appropriately for years. Merry Christmas to and God bless you all.

well i agree with firing the head people including the administrator and CNO to just name a few. I work there and I also had a bad experiece 3 years ago. I had an allergic reaction to poison ivy; imagine that a simple case of just getting a shot right? wrong! I was given a shot of steriods and then given a shot of epinephrine because of the allergy; I didn't know the side effect of the medicine and I asked the nurse what it would do to me; she said it would hurt for just a little; wrong! she gave me a IM shot in my right arm and didn't get it in the right spot; it hurt like hell; then she started putting the medicine in; a few seconds later I knew something was wrong; my heart started beating out of my chest; I wasn't even hooked up to a monitor or even had an IV started. I started to hyperventilate and my arm hurt so bad it was drawing up; I thought I was having a stroke from it; I called the doctor back in there and he finally gave me something to calm me down; one millegram of ativan; thats nothing. They put me on a monitor and my heart rate was 180. Instead of staying in there they watched me from the window; my friend with me pulled the curtain because I didn't want them staring at me. It finally got better but when I got in the car I took 2 more ativans that I had. I still wasn't calmed down until the next morning. It messed me up so bad that I had to get on antianxiety meds for a while and get something to help me sleep. Thats the second time they almost killed me; the first was when i was 9; i almost bled to death; they let me lay on a gurney bleeding out; i had to be sent to memphis childrens hospital for blood transfusions.
Oh, and you see the stupid trees out in the front now that have died...thats where our christmas bonus went; the big wheels got there bonus though but they said they needed to cut costs; well cut the bosses who don't do anything but cause trouble;

Hey poor little tards, I don't care if this petition works or not. It's about having the balls to stand up for others that are not able to do it themselfs. I will not set here and tell you to not go. That is your decision, not mine.
I've bit my tounge and never said a word publicly about the hospital. And you can call me a poor little tard all you want. That don't change the fact that I have bigger balls then you'll ever have and I'm not afraid to stand up for my loved ones. I hope you enjoy thier "quality care" and have a "Definetly Return". Beware that you will most likely have to return. So you can take it to heart. I don't care if it works or not. And I know it won't. But the words out, you replied!

BadBones69, you do what you have to do for your loved one. There will be those who love the hospital and those of us who have had bad experiences there. All any of the people here should be concerned with right now is how your dad is doing. I do hope he is doing better. You did what you had to do. Good luck.
