He is being held because when he comes before the parole board he lets them know that he will get another following and kill more people. He doesn't need to be in society with everyone else. His whole childhood was even spent in detention centers for stealing, etc. His uncle made him wear a dress to school once and when he was born his mother named him "No Name" and even offered to trade him for a meal at a diner. When in a detention center as a teenager he was sodomized by a guy while I gaurd watched.... he's seroiously messed up and has no place with normal people.

Charles was actually convicted of conspiracy which at the time had a max sentence of 20 years. Alot of politics involved on keeping him incarcerated. Alot of rumors say its for his protection as well as the publics not to let him out.

Nope: It was long rumored that mass murderer Charles Manson auditioned for The Monkees, but that rumor is unfounded, as he was in jail at the time the auditions were held.

Old Charlie is just a product of being "state raised". He has done a lot of time for someone that didn't do the killing himself. Missouri has had people that killed more folks than Charlie's crew and have been released. A high profile crime will keep a person locked up forever. Society has no place for Charlie now except for prison or a mental hospital.

This guy is a sick SYCHO. And if anyone wants to let him out of jail becouse they don't believe he did anything then I say we let him go live with them. I don't want that weirdo around me or my family. He belongs right where he's at, IN JAIL!!!

If I remember correctly, he was sentenced to death. Shortly after his death sentence the supreme court halted executions and all death sentences at the time were converted to life in prison.

Yes sir, Charley got lucky. the death penalty statute which was in effect at the time of Manson's crimes was overturned as unconstitutional, so that his death sentence could not be carried out. Later, a death penalty statute was enacted in keeping with the Consitutional guidance of court decisions. Only capital crimes committed since that statute went into effect can be punished by death.
A law can not be applied to anything done before its passage. That is known as "ex post facto" and is prohibited by the US Constitution.
