Bails is a joke. They started out years ago really helping people with disabilities improve their lives. They are now just like every other home health agency out there, just after the money. Yes I know you get to hire a friend or family member. I know some people who have their drunken/druggie friends and relatives working for them. That is how I want my tax money spent!

Some people need to look at the big picture... If you know someone is abusing the system then report them to the state!!! My daughter works through BAIL's to take care of her grandparents. It allows her more flexible scheduling while she is raising her small child, and she can continue with school. Plus she is able take them to Cape, Poplar Bluff, etc if they have doctor's appointments. This is especially helpful to me because I work long hours and have a hard time getting off work to take them. So, not everyone is a junkie that is stealing from the system. Just report the ones that are so that people like my daughter who need jobs that will fit their schedules can get them.

Yes, Bails is a Not For Profit. Have you ever heard of other not for profits leaders lining their pockets with the money that they receive! I am not saying this has happened at Bails. My point is Board members get on boards for a variety of reasons. Not all of those are in the best interests of the majority of the people they serve. Some are on there for the satisfaction of their own egos, for their need for power and position in the community, or for their ability to hire a friend or dismiss an employee they dislike. The original people who helped start Bails and worked there were grassroots trying to assist people with disabilities to help themselves to have a better life. There are presently board members whose goal is to involve themselves with the daily management of the institution for personal reasons. This micro-management, rather than establishing policy and direction, is not a board's proper role. I would love to name names but you can figure them out. By the way did you know that a person cannot run to serve on the Bails board you have to be appointed by the other members. This way they can keep it in their own click. Did you know that the Bails board has health insurance that is paid by the not for profit! How many of you have free health insurance? I have spoken to some girls who work as personal care attendants. This is what they have to say about Bails. The board only cares for themselves, the Exec. Director is an a**hole, the Office Mgr is mean and hatefull, the support staff are dumb and lazy. They are just like any other home health agency out there, there is not a true advocate for the disable in the area anymore.

While not all, many of those who care for the elderly and disabled care for and do things for their patients or clients that most people would not. Don't forget the good ones!

I have worked in home health care as a nurse before.
About 1/3 of the clients don't really need the service.
It is an obscene rip-off of our tax dollars.
I know that a lot of people do need it but Medicare/Medicaid need to pay closer attention to this industry.

I concur with your statement. Beleive me the Bails PCA program has a lot more people ripping off the Medicare program than regular home health agencies because they can hire a relative or a friend. There is no good way to monitor the care provided.

some people will find anything to gripe about. I disagree with much of what has been said regarding bails, particularly the administration there. the executive director happenes to be one of the most sincere persons I have ever met and his intentions are only positive. you need to grow up and get a life. sounds like a disgruntled ex-employee who has an axe to grind

Bails PAS program where you work for a relative or friend where Medicaid pays for it screwed me.

I worked my 2 weeks and only got paid for half of it. I asked and was told that the mcaid was inactive and they never called me to let me know. well that makes me feel like the state has screwed me out of money that i needed.

The programs aren't designed to help you find a job or get money...the program is for the consumer and it's SUPPOST to be about getting someone help with what they need help doing like cleaning, cooking and running errands. It's not about you getting a check, that's an advantage to the program! Yes, I agree, if you work for the money then you should get the money you deserve but that shouldn't make a difference in the care the consumer receives, especially if you were working for a "relative" or "friend" you should of been working for them to help them, not for money! If you're wanting the job for the money your working in the wrong profession!! And you should apply in a different field!!

Yeah I agree but if you arent working and depending on that paycheck. I get that its suppose to be helping them but you sign a W4 and you are employed through them. It doesnt mean that I wont care for them b/c I do more than what hours I get anyways.

I had to quit my job which was full-time good pay and good benefits to do this b/c they didnt have anyone else and doesnt want a stranger in their house.

I'm going through school and doing this so of course I will have a different profession pretty soon, but yeah the point is when you are expecting that check every 2 weeks to pay some bills ya know. I mean Im not expecting any type of disability or welfare check b/c i do get out and work.
Its just my kid and me and even now I have to get on stamps and my kid is on mc+ yet they are telling me that I am MANDATORY to look for ajob that is atleast 30 hrs a week at min. wage to keep my child and my medicaid.

Justice in that. Ive lost a lot by doing this which Im grateful to do it. Which it doesnt matter on the mandatory thing b/c the hours that my consumer has me set up on is scattered some in morning, afternoon, and night, so my mandatory search cannot happen.

my point was they didnt even call and let me know about my check being half what its suppose to be.
Yes there are alot of people that take advantage of the PAS program, I know a few that do

Why would you want to work for what has been described on this post. You people are rediculous! You need to move on and talk about something that you know about and leave things you definately know nothing about alone.

If you worked for the BAILS PAS Program, you didn't work for BAILS. You worked for the consumer. The consumer should know if they have a spindown to meet each month and make sure it is being met in order for their attendant to get paid. One of the requirements for the program is they must be able to self direct. If there is question in that maybe the consumer needs to switch over to in-home so that the attendant works for "BAILS" and not the consumer. PAS or now CDS is just that Consumer Directed Services. BAILS IS NOT THE EMPLOYER. If you will notice on the paycheck the check is not from BAILS it is from the consumer in which you work for. The best thing to do if you are IN IT FOR THE MONEY is to call DFS the first of every month and make sure the medicaid is active.
