State and federal cigarette taxes have been raised more than 73 times since 2000-increasing the average price 80% per pack. Now, Congress is targeting smokers again $6.10 per carton. Email our legislators from the website: stoptheFETincrease.com to speak out against unfair cigarette taxes.

I am so disgusted with the cigarette tax increases. They just went up almost $7.00 per carton in my state. It is so unfair. I am all for putting more taxes on alcohol. It not only kills people who drink it, but a lot of innocent people on the road. Smokers have already had to put up with NO SMOKING buildings, campuses, bars, etc. to keep from harming anyone else. So, give a rest.

I am from San Antonio,Texas and I feel it is not fair for Congress to keep raising the taxes on cigarettes. Why is it that you do not go and add more taxes on these stores that sell porn mags and sex toys like Megaplex and adult video stores? These places are probably the ones that are responsible for all the sexual predetors that are out here in this world.I am disgusted with Congress always trying to raise taxes on cigarettes.LAY-OFF ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't it everyone's duty to pay their share of taxes not just the smokers.

I am sick to death of the tax increase on smokes. I was in Wisconsin(35.00 carton). Illinois (60.00 carton). The Gov. of Ill. wants to balance the budget--he slaps a tax on smokes. The guy is an idiot. He doesn't smoke so he doesn't care. Smoking isn't good for you--thats a given. Let me care for my health--I don't need a bunch of goody-goodies laying down the laws. U don't smoke?don't go to restaurants that allow it. No smoking outside buildings? Good grief we're outside. I was in the passenger side of my car--pulled up next to another auto. Blew smoke outside--the driver coughed!!! I took a deep drag and blew more at her. The JERK. Raise taxes on alcohol, movie theaters, gambling casinos, groceries. Why won't they do it?? Lots of people drink, gamble, go to movies and buy food. The local government doesn't want to step on their toes. Give us a break. Pick in someone else.

I too, am sick of the taxes that are imposed on smokers, they have already kicked us out of the bars, restaurants and public places. Granted, it is bad for your health, but I think its time that more taxes should be put on alcohol and let the rest of the people feel the crunch our government is putting on us. Havent they taxed us enough already? They want the world to quit smoking, but as a citizen, born in the United States, its my legal right to smoke, whats next? I cant smoke in my home,my car, my yard? Too many laws, too many whiners!I used to enjoy a cigarette when I drank a beer in a bar, I can no longer do that,so I dont go to bars anymore to enjoy a beer and smoke, I have to do it at home.I believe it has hurt the bar industry and less people will frequent them because of it.What happened to the land of the free? What happened to my rights? DONT RAISE THE TAXES ON CIGARETTES,ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
