When are the cops and Highway patrolmen going to start giving tickets to these Rednecks buying these after market illegal blue headlights? They are not "DOT" approved. When the kits says "For off-road use only" that means they are too bright and will blind oncoming traffic. I realize a lot of new cars come standard with them but they are approved for highway use and are not too bright and have the capability to dim, unlike the ILLEGAL ones people are buying around here.

I don't usually rant but I'm tired of being blinded by these lights on my way to work every morning and they cant even dim them when you ask.

Might change your mind when your lights blind someone and they hit you head on and make a vegetable of you.

Next time you see a set "too bright" just pull over and meet them head on. They'll learn.

When you meet them in the gates of hell you can tell them what assholes they are for having "too bright" headlights. They in return can tell you that you're a whiny little bitch.

:) hope this helps

A trooper told me they are legal if the bulbs are clear and they burn blue. If the bulbs are painted blue then they're illegal.

Not true. Most of them clearly say "for off road use only". That means they are cheap imports and not approved. Just cheap imitations of the factory ones.
Wanna be's.

I'm not talking about just the light bulbs you buy at Wal-mart. I'm talking about the "kits" that require a ballast. That are clearly illegal in most cases unless they are OEM factory.

Trooper Watson told me the clear bulbs with the ballast are legal. That's what the factory use for HID on the newer cars.

I'm quite positive that he is wrong. And I really don't believe he told you that since being a trooper he should know they are illegal. Check with DOT, I did! Unless they have a "DOT Approved" branded on them. Most after market HID's are not street legal and you can get a ticket and even your vehicle towed if caught using them. Some may be legal but 99% of the ones these rednecks around here are using are not.
Why blind oncoming traffic just so you can "think" you look cool.

So if I get a couple one million Q-beams and turn them on as I meet you because your lights are blinding me, I assume thats Ok? Their not DOT approved just like your wanna bee lights.
Dang Dude! Grow up and stop being such a hick!
Think of the older people that can't see good when those lights are blinding them. Could be somebody's Grandmother.

I drive a truck and when I have these very rudd lights from hell that I can feel to the back of my head shinning in my face I cannot see the road or any one standing in it. Why don"t you just use an arc welder to see with. or better yet 1000 watt lasers. You should not have to worry about any light for long. Your retnus will be fryed. ooh ooh I know, Why dont we just put six or eight blinding lights on all our vehicles, To hell with courtesy. It"s all about me me me Now! If we are all blind we will not have any need for lights at all. But like allways tell myself, Bright lights for a dim driver!

Even if you happen to find a set that is legal(which would be hard to do) idiots around here don't know how to install them correctly. They require a projector that aims the light downwards. Not a reflector that scatters the light in people;s eyes like the idiots around here that are installing them.
Don't worry. These cheap China imports that people are buying are getting out of hand and people are complaining. The coppers will be writing those tickets shortly in masses. Like they should be!

HID's if used correctly are great. But leave it to a select few idiots to spoil a good thing by trying to look "COOL" to their buddies and install them wrong or buying too high of wattage.
