Let's see... he spent lavishly as president, was forced out and we name a building after him. He must think we are dumb (Democrat).

So your going to name a building after someone who left the U amid contaversy? Sounds like he spent more time elsewhere than here. Another stuffed-shirt, pan handler for the rich, you jerk-off. Why can't the building be named for some famous/important minnesotan that everyone would know? It's not like he gave the money too build this thing. Bunch of priks.( not allowed to spell it correctly )

He was a professor and administrator at the U for many years before becoming president. Personally I think it's classy of the U to recognize his service in this way.

So what?,yeah, he's been suckleing on the teet of the U for years? what does that have too do with the price of tea? You get a building named after you because what?, you did the job you were hired too do? Well, isn't that special. Too bad regular working stiff's don't get the same respect.

This is a step backward for the U of MN, which could use all the goodwill and positive publicity that it can get these days! Can it get anything right?!

The chemistry buildings, Smith and Kolthoff, are named for chemists. The chemical engineering building is named for Amundson, a chemical engineer. The aerospace engineering and mechanics building is named for Akerman, an aeronautical engineer. The Tate Lab of physics is named for, you guessed it, a physicst.

The university is telling its electrical engineers and computer scientists - past, present and future -
"YOU SUCK!". Not one of you was, is or ever will be worthy of having the department buliding named after you. We're going to name it after some clod who puked all over himself as university president.

You know the produce manager at Cub in the Midway has done a great job over the years getting us fresh fruit and vegetables without anyone getting sick. He has done an extraordinary job in my opinion. Let's name a building after him. He has worked so hard, for so long, for such little pay.

Did you read the first sentence of the article?

"...naming the electrical engineering/computer science building in honor of former university president AND CHEMICAL ENGINEERING PROFESSOR (emphasis mine) Kenneth Keller."

Not a bad idea. However, there's a difference between a commercial building that was built in order to make a profit and by its very nature will be named in accordance with the company's branding standards, and a public building for nonprofit purposes.
