I want to grow the region. Give the Penguins the development rights of 500 or 600 acres -- not 30 acres -- by building the new arena out of the city and by the airport.

Hi,

Bob, I'm 100% with you.. I don't care if the Penguins stay or go. They could go tonight, and I won't lose any sleep. This isn't my life. Why should they threaten to leave the city if they don't get a new arena? What right do they have to do this? Why should the city/county get involved? Why don't we start fronting the money for new KMarts, shopping centers, golf courses, etc....? These bring in people & tax dollars too.... I'm a football fan, and I don't agree with Heinz Field being built either. Why does the city/county dictate where my money should go? Get real, wake up people. There are many more important things to worry about than hockey. The city of Pittsburgh is living in the past, and still trying to capatilize on the " City Of Champions " thing from the past. How about spending some money on cleaning Pittsburgh? Have you taken a walk in the Strip lately? Look around the city buildings, the city of Pgh sign garage on Liberty. Garbage outside littering the sidewalks & street that has been there for months. Spdnd money on this, not a new arena... Wa Wa Mario.

Right on Eddie, I am glad to see that someone besides me doesn't think the world revolves around sports. It irks me that the city would even consider spending millions for sports while PAT is wrecking so many peoples lives that depend on a bus to work in the city. Why doesn't the city take over public transportation and use that arena money to get people to work so they can pay their taxes that the city wants so desperately to spend on another arena. I personally never did see any sense in taxpayers having to buy an arena, what does the taxpayer get in return. The privlege of spending a rediculous price for a ticket and a horrible fee for parking to watch a hockey game. To me that makes as much sense as a toll road like the turnpike, well we are going to spend millions of your dollars to build this road and then we are going to charge you a fee to use it. That never did make sense to me. Gee, next time I go to buy a car I think I will purchase it with my girlfriends money but if she wants to use it I'll charge her a rental fee, yeah right!
