Another US business bites the dust! Our economy is supposed to be doing so wonderful, according to Bush and Fox news, yet people's jobs continue to leave this country. I hope this is an issue that becomes very important to in-coming democrats and receives the action it deserves. The US population can't all work for Wallmart or McDonalds!!
I hear you and agree! But as long as the U.S. consumer continues to buy cheap merchandise (usually from Wal-Mart) made in a country where the labor rate is $1 a day, we will continue to lose manufacturing jobs!
If we impose a tarriff, those same consumer won't be able to buy anything, and....our products that ARE selling overseas will stop selling because they'll start charging us a tarriff!!!
If we want to stop this trend, we gotta make something that everyone wants, but that they can't make!(P.S. unionizing and demanding more money from a company that's already about to go out of business won't solve it either.)

YMM is doing things like lying about jobs statistics and grand standing about successes that are few too few. Now that he's put all of his cronies and their offspring to work for the state by shoving experienced civil servants out the door, that well has gone dry too. Hopefully we'll turn the corner on his "renaissance" before it gets much worse. Use your spell checker. You were a couple of letters off when you wrote "balls" instead of "gall."
Experienced civil servants??? Do you work for an Indiana agency? I did, and most of your so-called civil servants should have been showed the curb years ago.

How did it happen that we started doing business in China?

GM had two and building another plants there!

China is a comunist country! When Ruaaia was a comunist country we would have nuthing to do with them, yet in China we are even having the olimpics!!
What the????

Everything u see in the stores anymore are from China we are helping build their army!

If everyone stopped buying this crap we could shut them down! But will we? Nope we will continue to buy and build thier military till they turn around and take over and when they do all our plants will be in their hands. With all our money and jobs!!

What the hel.. lets start buying cars and trucks made in China too!!

I see that the BIGGST PROBLEM facing the American work force in the lack of unity between Management and labor
too many times these two sides are at odds with each other because of greed
CEO's want the biggest profits at the expence of labor and safety... and yet some members of labor want the fattest paychecks at the expense of quality of the product....
the 2 sides need to come to terms before ALL the manufacturing jobs end up in Mexico and China and the USA is just left with a huge debt and the Dollar is as worthless as the paper it is printed on
Very well put yes finally some inteligent people on the subject!

The complete Internal Revenue Code contains more than 3.4 million words; printed 60 lines to the page, it would fill more than 7500 letter-size pages. Does it take 7500 pages to make sure you get the deductions your supposed to get, NO it takes 7497 pages to give money to companies to move the jobs Americans should have and protect the profit the companies make from legitimate taxes for doing business in this country. When will corporate America begin to show or feel its appreciation for doing business here in this country? No need to place tariffs on the imports but tax them for the labor that is exported. I know this may seem a little isolationist to some of you (PURE economic types) but what do you think the Chinese are doing? They are buying guns and building missles and submarines and a navy with the money they are making. The problem is nobody buys anything from us. They buy from a company here that makes products there. Why do we ship the jobs off and ship the products back in? Itís cheaper. Do we ship these jobs overseas to make life better for them? Hell no! We do it because they are not covered by the same protections as American workers. INSURANCE for one and all the other protections that were created in the early 1900Ēs in manufacturing. American jobs, means American workers, which means Americans covered by insurance. There ARE cost to doing business here in this country. Companies here avoid the cost by shipping production to 3rd world nations.
I say no reason for sanctions or tariffs just bring the jobs back here and lets start having American Companies help with the American dream. Your 401 is not gonna be worth jack when the FED defaults. End result more Americans able to take care of themselves. But stockholders and CEOís do not look at the big picture just the bottom line, and thatís means maximum profit. We can have growth in this country but for the long term maybe single digit growth could be accepted instead of demanding double digit growth no matter what the cost. No matter what the damage to the country. Companies can make money without slashing everybody
Simple lets have American companies start doing whatís best for America not just stockholders and companies. Perhaps all the trillions, yes trillions, that have been sent away, could do something about the situation here in AMERICA . Thank you and good day
Oh and pure economics only works in books. For all you smart people out there

This closing is just evidence that the old manufacturing methods and labor without any productivity expectations lead to failure. These old rust belt manufacturing facilities with their overpriced, under worked labor force is not competitive with the world economy. If you want to maintain businesses of this sort then you must eliminate the obstacles that their labor unions put in place that causes the cost of production to become so high that a company cannot compete.

Okay, since we are on the subject of spelling let us look at the proper spelling of the term English. Your comment would be even more inteligible if you had written the sentence " Try "AN" English class. Notice the use of an prior to a word begining with a vowel.
PLease don't confuse "your" for "you are" or the contraction of the aforementioned "you're".
I hope you have never said, " I seen Kathleen and she was really hot!!!!". Please say " I saw Kathleen and she was very large."
Have a nice day.

You only see what you want. Gov Daniels is doing the things that IN has needed to be done for a long time and nobody else has had the balls to do.
Including selling the state right out from underneath us.

You must be blind, deaf and dumb to think that Daniels to trying to ANYTHING to help IN grow! All he's done is sell us down the river (soon that'll be gone too) What he can't sell, he privatizes!
