Another US business bites the dust! Our economy is supposed to be doing so wonderful, according to Bush and Fox news, yet people's jobs continue to leave this country. I hope this is an issue that becomes very important to in-coming democrats and receives the action it deserves. The US population can't all work for Wallmart or McDonalds!!

You only see what you want. Gov Daniels is doing the things that IN has needed to be done for a long time and nobody else has had the balls to do.

YMM is doing things like lying about jobs statistics and grand standing about successes that are few too few. Now that he's put all of his cronies and their offspring to work for the state by shoving experienced civil servants out the door, that well has gone dry too. Hopefully we'll turn the corner on his "renaissance" before it gets much worse. Use your spell checker. You were a couple of letters off when you wrote "balls" instead of "gall."

Shoving experienced civil servants out the door? Maybe this is why the big 3 are in such bad shape! Everybody wants to keep there easy job and do nothing. Well get a real the jobs of yesterday are gone! If people like you are running businesses how long will you be in business and if in business how profitible will you be? AND BE HONEST

What jobs has Mitch brought to Noble County IN. Noble County is the highest ranked county for the loss of manufacturing jobs. How is he showing that Northease IN is available for new jobs, what is he doing to promote Noble county and Northeast Indiana. As far I know he's doing nothing. He's more worried about building a highway that would bring more jobs to Indy and that would take away from other parts of the state. Mitch ain't my man!

This closing is just evidence that the old manufacturing methods and labor without any productivity expectations lead to failure. These old rust belt manufacturing facilities with their overpriced, under worked labor force is not competitive with the world economy. If you want to maintain businesses of this sort then you must eliminate the obstacles that their labor unions put in place that causes the cost of production to become so high that a company cannot compete. If an economy like France is what you want with it's 15% unemployment then these protectionist ideas that the unions push will give you those results. I am sure that the govenor would love lnothing more than to keep this factory open, but they would have to be willing to restructure their whole manufacturing process. That is not going to happen, but someone else will and make the same parts here or elsewhere and make money...

I guess that make over 50% of the state hillbilly inbred idiots. Oh, and by the way...the derogatory word you were looking for is hillbilly...not hillybilly. Indiana doesn't have as many hilly terrains as those states to our south...so "Hillybilly" is not appropriate grammar in this instance. Get it right next time moron.

The auto industry is getting what it deserves. The UAW has finally crashed America's remaining large scale manufacturing companies. High wages, poor work ethic, stupid benefit packages have all contributed to this. I hope they are happy. Get rid of unions and improve America.

If you are depending on manufacturing jobs, you're in trouble. Manufacturing is the fastest declining industry in the COUNTRY. Good luck with that one.

Yeah...it did for 3.85 Billion. FYI...it was a 75 year lease, not a sale. Indiana retains possession, but the consortium runs, maintains, and collects all of the tolls from the road.

Back in the 1950's and the 1960's, the entire world had to buy almost everything from the USA. The rest of the world's infrastructure was destroyed in World War II or not industrialized at all. Quality and productivity standards here were low or didn't exist at the time.

The big three, other major maufacturers, and the unions thought it would be this way forever.

Now, we are forced to compete with the rest of the world. If we close off imports and only buy American, no one else will buy our products. We MUST have international trade, or you will see economic decline like the Great Depression.

We CAN have high paying manufacturing jobs if we want them. But we need more highly educated engineers, technologists, scientists, and skilled laborers to make it happen.

China and India are making this happen NOW. America isn't. Kids these days are incredibly lazy. Better attitudes, morals, work ethics, and an emphasis on education would help tremendously.
