My wife and I married in 1957 and moved to the Houston area in 1958. She passed away last year and I live in the Bellaire home we bought in 1975.
According to the appraisal district the value of the house is currently worth more than 10 times its original cost.
I have thought about selling the house but if I did, where would I live? Bellaire is one of the safest areas in Harris County. Bad things happen in Houston every day and reported on the local news. Often in areas I considered safe a few years back.
Then I read about Gun Barrel City and actions by its city council. If I were to sell my home and move from here, I would love to move to a town where most, if not all, of the good guys had guns.
Such a move would take me back to my childhood. I never lived in a town with a population in excess of 10,000 until I graduated from college.

I have live around the area for many years and as Gun Barrel is today, I dont think you would like the town. It's very busy with Dallasites that own homes on the lake,,,''and thats not all.'' I would spend time down here before you made that decision.
