LAKEPORT The Lake County Planning Commission voted 3-2 to recommend the Cristallago project move forward to the Board of Supervisors at the commission meeting Thursday.

Wonderful!!! As a 10 year Lake County resident/commuter the only thing this means to me is that I will be joined by an additional 1200 or so commuters on my trek across THE MTN into Santa Rosa. Hopefully, any prospective Cristallago suburbanites will realize that living in Lake County is not a wise decision. No employment and no where decent to shop, dine or anything else widely available in the more civilized areas of the U.S. And with the current lack of Animal Control Services heaven help them if they have livestock and pets.

Donna: I have been cast as one of the smatterings. My goal was not get Mr.Dinius off or set him free. Not even to go after Mr.Perdock. I would also state my faith with this system has been shook to the core. That reality is caused by this local government that harbored dishonest employees and even did so after they became aware I was telling the truth. You are an authority on this person's mental health? I worked on this Cristallago project in Lake county and perhaps if Konocti Harbor was bought by the county through this corporation a lot of troubles would be mitigated. If there isn't an employment base other than a self perpetuated drug war brought on and complimented by the corrupt of LCSO then a bonafide health facility in the ENTIRE counthy of Lake is a great idea.
The project in itself is a good one, but the crooked businesses of the "good old boy" regime, one "home improvement store" in particular that plays ball with Mitchell, Hopkins and et al seems to think they can "ace" the bids for supplies on this project.
The honorable "home improvement stores" don't have the leverage of the dishonorable ones. It's sort of like the scheme that was played out with Chalk in the Beautiful City of Clearlake where the "good old boys" wanted a piece of the real estate and thought they could red tag their way to a green fields of money. Corrupt cops don't understand development of construction and recently I have again been advised that the City of Clearlake building department is "at it again..."
The socioeconomic base of any community is formulaic in the fact that there needs to be a support of these projects ALTHOUGH retirement people from the Bay Area do bring in revenue and have steady income.
All geological requirements for Cristallago MUST be met. Period. A home is only as stable as it's foundation and a community is only as stable as the building department and health and safety regulators. Once a project is UP it is very difficulty to make any changes. This project needs to be scrutinized carefully, and Lake county, the crown jewel of California needs to sit FIRMLY on making this a healthy community.
I was recently in Addison, Texas, on research, and it was interesting. In this right to work state communities have HEALTH CLUBS that are operating by the expense of all taxpayers and the facilities are improved EVERY TIME there is new development.
Don't forget for a minute that the status quo of your home is set by YOU. There are not adequate building efforcement in the Hell Hole of Calcutta and that is HOW it got it's name.
The UBC, for those inquiring minds, is now the IBC for a reason. It USED to be the UBC was for the USA and Saudia Arabia, but let's face it folks we never gave Saudia Arabia our builders except for the elite that owned the oil fields.
All of our projects SHOULD be solar so that that revenue is used in our county. That is extra money SINCE our energy fields, the Geysers is owned by SMUD (Sacramento Municipal Utility District) and the price of lighting our homes in Solano county is less than a fourth that it is in Lake county. Our water? Also owned by another county that doesn't have a bit of trouble leaving the faucets running with "free" water.
The City of Clearlake? Our youth there can swim. Our youth can't garden for lack of water... and Cristallago is promoted by out of county contractors as was the ADA compliant housing in the CIty of Clearlake. The contractors there can not compete with out of state contractors because the "good old boys" perpetuate a war of ignorance in our county.

Cristallago? A pretty good project, last I checked, but DON'T sell your soul to a company that is only going to buy products and services from out of county and give nothing to the community.
Fouling our water and air is NOT an option. If there are concerns address them. Once the project is up you will have to deal with poor planning and it extends to the commute traffic if this is what it will generate.

Hard to wade through all the bs that has nothing to do with the topic, but anyway, just in case anyone cares about this issue...

Do the "developers" actually have the funding to build this project or are they, as every one in the past who has proposed some version of this, just fishing for money now that the County has invested so much money in staff time and meetings?

IF it's done well, and I hope that would be the case, this could be a great step up and for years during the building stages there will be construction jobs for those who have not already been forced out of Lake County. By the time the houses are being completed the economy may well have recovered to the point where it's possible that the homes could actually be sold too.

Obviously, the homes and residents would need support services, restaurants and other businesses would also make gains. I am going to remain hopeful that this isn't just another excercise.
