And I totally agree with you. My real doctor has the Xrays of my back and gladly would rather see me take a few puffs to alleviate my pain than to prescribe addictive opiates, which in fact do not work as well on the pain. As far as the tourism thing? Gimme a break already, one is not supposed to be able to just walk into a dispensary with a recommendation and buy product, The dispensaries are supposed to get a hold of the doctor that signed the form to make sure the person buying is an actual patient

It was not easy to my script for medical marijuana , I had to provide medical records for my condition. And some of you had better do some study before spreading false information. Medical MJ is used for more than just cancer and cemo.

As a patient that gets his recommendation(It Is Not a Prescription) from a real doc and uses MJ for arthritis pain, I am totally against the "pot docs" that just give out the recommendations to anyone that gives them money. Those "docs" are just leeches To me, and that is very detrimental to the medicinal quality usage. I see too many of these people that do not truly have a valid reason for using it in a medicinal way and only have the recommendations to wake and bake. I also do not have a problem with those that do use it to get high and prefer that over booze which is our worst national drug, I would just like to see some reality in the MJ world
There are many ailments that Medical Cannibis helps relieve. And more and more people are finding that it even helps relieve ailments, not yet on the list. People assumed that prop. 215 was for cancer and terminally ill patients when they voted for it. They were wrong and ignorant. It is for all people.
Humans have THC receptors throughout their bodies, which delivers the THC to the proper places, and helps relieve aches and pains, or makes the patient hungry.
The Doctors, that I have met, that prescribe Cannibis, are very stringent to the laws that govern Prop 215.
Are far as the BOS regulating the dispensaries, they should leave it up to the State. Kamala Harris is the new AG and she already accomplished it in San Francisco. She will come up with a program for all counties to comply with, even the so-called dry counties.
It will be interesting with the new DA and Sheriff, which direction Lake County will go. Hopefully for the money!
Happy new year!!!

There are no recorded deaths from MJ...compare that to alcohol and prescribed drugs. The legal drug industry is the sham. Many of the prescibed drugs are toxic, lethal if misused, expensive and crammed down our throats in advertising, etc. A natural plant that just about anyone can grow that is safe, non-lethal and effective on a large number of ailments is just what this country needs in terms of health care reform. There will be $ lost by the big drug companies and that is what is scaring them and keeping MJ's reputation in the "Reefer Madness" era of hysteria.

<quoted text>Apparently we must have a tremendous amount of 20 and 30 year olds with cancer and debilitating arthritis. People there are some many other healthy alternatives to pot for pain relieve. But all who smoke are unhealthy anyway's and have never taken care of thier body's. They have a poor diet and they don't exercise! This medical marijuana is a joke...a joke! Mendocino and Lake County will soon be blocked off to the rest of the world in a scene similar from "Escape from New York", with all the criminals, and pot-heads sent here to fight amongst themeselves! It's a shame. Lake County has so much potential, yet we waste it on these foolish dreams! If you smoke pot, sell pot, or grow pot your a loser period!
How would you know ? Have you ever tried it ? Well anyway i guess your the winner

I'll fill in some of the details since Jeremy not only didn't say which supervisors said what, he didn't mention any of the 26 people that testified and what their positions were. The Chamber of Commerce got involved for the first time, and in a letter dated 12-17-10 supporting the staff memo of 12-20-10 (yes, a bit of collusion between the Chamber, Community Development Dept, Rob Brown and some of the good old boys, particularly the Kelseyville contingent).
The Chamber is afraid that not only will Lake County remain the "meth capitol" (sic) of Northern California, we might also become (heaven forbid) the medical marijuana "capitol" (sic) of Northern California.(letter to Board signed by Melissa Fulton)
Guys like Bill Brunetti and Bill Kearney spoke and urged the Board to close all the dispensaries and not allow any in the County. Kearney, one of the biggest (legal) drug dealers in the county, owner of two North Lake Pharmacies in Lakeport, a Vietnam Vet that should know how many vets cannabis has helped, urged that no dispensaries be allowed in the county, but then said if medical marijuana was going to continue it should be sold through pharmacies (so he could make more money). What a hypocrite - a (legal)drug pusher opposing medical marijuana.
Attorney Peter Windrem, a Democrat who is often good on issues, really misses the boat on this one, and urged that there be no dispensaries in the county, especially not in downtown Kelseyville where he recently relocated his office. Of course, Peter has always been a big booster of the wine industry. Peter's an ok guy, just way behind and narrow-minded on this issue.
One Upper Lake woman came and ranted and raved about Doc Milan Hopkins, which had nothing whatsoever to do with the issue at hand.
There was a concerted effort by the Rob Brown supporters/Chamber types/Good old boys and girls to stack this meeting (being told way in advance) while the pro-dispensary people (usually making up 95% of the people who show for these meetings)got caught with short notice between Christmas and New Years Day and generally didn't even know about the meeting. But, it ain't over til it's over, and it ain't yet over as indicated by Jeremy.
thanks for the thorough report

OMG....CL POA want you to believe people who smoke marijuana are molesting kids (his words), and he is here to "clue you in" LOL
CL POA...learn to type English grammar, before calling Americans losers! So many errors, I can't even start.
How about maybe learnin' a little math as well. lol

CL POA,(whatever that stands for), thinks 53% of the AMERICANS in Lake County Calif. are freeks (his/her words, lol), welfare-cheaters, and losers who never passed the 6th grade.
Have to wonder where he got educated.
We sure saw a lot of them come out of the shadows fighting for "keeping what we had" (their jobs) when it looked like we the people were finally "fed up" with his ilk and might actually get a new administration and sheriff with new standards.

Congress has passed many education bills the last 2 years that will assist if you want to join the rest of the world.
Your "reports" must be something to behold.
You better take advantage of the offer of an education before you have to defend your actions in a court of law.

It has been said and rightly so that without the pot industry in Lake County, our economy would be totally dead in the water. This I believe is a true statement. Just ask any of the local small hardware stores and hydroponics outlets and you will find they make it due to the growing industry in the county. From bagged dirt to scissors, these companies make a lot of money on the industry.
One good example of what the BOS should be working on in the manufacturing arena is Hemp!! In world war II every GI piece of rope was made from Hemp, clothes from Hemp, oils and a myriad of other products were produced. The legalization of pot, which is going to happen, will open a door of opportunity to grow Hemp.(Hemp has no THC values in it) and it is one idea, that even now the BOS should be looking at.
Jeremy's article? Terrible, couldn't even name the supervisors and what their opinions were??? Gary do you even look at these things before your ace reporters turn them in for publication?
Get a clue folks opportunities are fast disappearing and tourism is not what is going to hold up Lake County. Period.
Back to pot and the economy of Lake County, you can bet that 90 percent of any monies generated goes right back into the local economy, these people that grow don't move, they don't send their money to grandma out of state.(We are not talking about the illegal forest grows by the way). Better start to act and plan now, or more opportunity will go down the drain.
"Why use up the forests which were centuries in the making and the mines which required ages to lay down, if we can get the equivalent of forest and mineral products in the annual growth of the hemp fields?"
