An opposing viewpoint

Full story: Lake County Record-Bee

Katy Sweeny's article on Nov. 5, "An issue of equality," was unsettling. If Ms. Sweeny advocates for gay marriage that is her right just as it is the right of the opposers to oppose.

The American Psychiatric Association had "Homosexuality" on its list of "Treatable Mental Illnesses" for 93 years until Ruth Bader Ginsberg, then of the ACLU, came along and threatened to sue them out of existence. Rather than fight it they grabbed the eraser and went to work before the next annual journal was published.

Homosexuality is a violation of good sense and health practices. It involves the improper use of bodily organs in ways that have proven lethal to many and have been rightly codified illegal. Why do we now allow this sort of thing in the name of "political correctness?" Could it be that this doctrine, like that of Affirmative Action is stupid, destructive, immoral, insulting and offensive?

I think that is the case.

Ms. Holliday, was it unscrupulous when the citizens of the deep south voted to split the union in order to keep slavery alive, or to have a segregated life style up to the sixties. According to your way of justifying the majority abusing the minorities, I can see your voting your so called Christian belief's that empower your own personal need to feel superior to your fellow man. The Bible states a lot of things, and it's followers, depending on the church doctrine of their choice, that twists the words to fit there many different comfort zones. First, the Bible give no power or rights of ownership of property to the female's of our world, tells us the world was made in 6 days, old dudes lived to be 800+ years and fathered entire cultures. Furthermore, it says we are damned if we eat pork, so much for Bar B Q ribs and Christmas Ham, that the world was flat, not to leave out assorted miracle's never witnessed by modern man.

As to the moral grounds, if you ever took the time to read about the sexual practices of the human being, you would find that the "straight" sector practices all those things, plus more, that are so demonized about what the gay sector practices.

Your argument that, the gay community has the same rights as the rest of us, shows you to be less then intellectually superior, as you must think you are in your own close minded mind. Which doctrine in the Christian world should the gays gradually and resolutely find that perfection with. You slipped up by stating that "SOME" CHURCHES DO SEE HOMOSEXUALITY AS A SIN", meaning you can pick which one that suits yourself, so much for written in stone. Marriage is not just a religious union, it is the right of all citizens of this country, as it is preformed in city halls, and quickie chapels in Nevada. But without it, some folks are denied the same rights as the rest of us, and that lady is wrong. Separation of church and state was the most important part of our nations beginning, and each day, it proves itself to be just that.

DEAR DANIELLE HOLLIDAY:

It is not my intention to contradict church teachings on the subject of marriage equality for Gay couples (even though those teachings vary widely between denominations). Nor is it my intention to contradict Scripture (even though most Christians believe that Scripture is open to certain amounts of contextual interpretation).

Instead, I would prefer to approach this subject from a purely Constitutional viewpoint. And the fact remains that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), no matter how "theologically correct" it might be, is tranparently unconstitutional, because it establishes differing sets of legal standards for Gay and Straight couples. This contradicts both the 14th Amendment and the "Full Faith & Credit" clause.

Danielle, you seem fond of using Scriptural arguments to support your opinions, and I would certainly encourage you to conduct your own personal "lifestyle" as your conscience dictates. If you believe that unrepentant Gay people are going to suffer an eternity of horrific torture after we die, I suppose that's your right. But the United States is not a theocracy, and the legal benefits, protections and responsibilities that go with marriage are bestowed by the government, not the church. There are over 1,100 federal benefits associated with marriage. How is it that taxpaying Gay couples can be expected to meekly subsidize that system of incentives while being unable to take part?

I would like to reassure you that NOTHING is going to happen to "traditional marriage." Most people will always be Straight (i.e. heterosexual), and Straight couples will continue to marry and build families as always, regardless of Gay couples marrying.

Please do enlighten us un-ed-u-ma-ca-ted by elaborating on the second sentence of your second paragraph. For once please try to leave out the political rhetoric along with the conspiracy theories, sky's cameltoe studebaker and any of the other dozens of subjects you rant about in your response if possible.
thanks
PS: patiently waiting to observe you slant on that topic .

I do believe in helping the handicapped when and wherever I can. To wit: If you are referring to the "eraser" comment, what I am saying, cleverly to the unafflicted, is that the American Psychiatric Association took "Homosexuality" off their list of "Treatable Mental Illnesses" as a result of ACLU threats and not because of new information, data or studies.

Can anyone out there tell me how a gay couple being married threatens a straight couple's marriage? Why anyone needs to defend the institution with "defense of" bills, or worse, laws? Could anyone out there explain why anyone would care at all about anyone else's religious views, which should be kept private, you know, between you and the goddess? Because the Constitution says it can not be any part of government or law. Am I the only one who is really insulted that someone else would try to force me to conform to what they think their religion dicaates?

If you feel strongly that Goddess wants you not to be gay, don't be gay. Or be gay. I don't give a rip. And stay the hell out of everyone else's business.

So what you are saying, infinite wisdom of the ages, Adrian Vance, is that your hatred for women and people of color isn't a mental illness, but homosexuality is? You are a homocidealsexual. That mean you have one ideal and your testicles jump in your scrotum if you get to kill and innocent for your ideal. It is the thrill of the kill and the debasing of women that gets you your satifaction and if you can find another male, you can bond over this and grunt, grunt, grunt... and you don't SEE that that in of itself is well, a little homoerotic? AV. Please take a long hard look in the mirror and do an inventory. You are the boogey man!

That means you have one ideal and ...
Oops.
Correction.
I have premature send button dysfunction syndrome.
It's a mental illness identified by the American Pschiatric Association and happens when I associate with people or disassociate with people like the amazing Adrian Vance and tour de force of one. The boogey man post traumatic shock and awe syndrome. Bwa, ha, ha, ha... Bwa, ha, ha, ha...

Mommy and Daddy I'm scared!
I think I saw the boogey man in the closet!
Oh honey, don't worry, there's nothing in the closet!
Oh, but Mommy and Daddy there is, I just KNOW there is!!!
I think it's Adrian Vance!
Yes, you are probably right sweetheart.
Don't worry about it little one... he won't come out of the closet. He's locked himself in and I am sure he won't come out. He's too scared.
Thanks Mommy and Daddy for that! I can sleep now.
Good night little one. The sun will come up tomorrow regardless of Adrian Vance's stances.
We can all rest easy.

Thanks but i was actually referring to the Second Paragraph as stated originally so let's try again,

"Homosexuality is a violation of good sense and health practices. It involves the improper use of bodily organs in ways that have proven lethal to many and have been rightly codified illegal."

Howcome it is not "lethal" to heterosexuals? They didn't cover that in health class.

You are a homocidealsexual and an abomination against God and the Universe. Homosexuality is a sin against God and man? I suppose you think you are a man? That's pretty funny for someone who can't get a date with a woman if he tried. Hide in that septic tank where the echo of your own voice makes you think you are more than one confused and hateful "man"... LOL! Light a match in that septic tank and meet God with the blue flash that will finally set you free. Once you get to "heaven" then come back and let us know how it is, since you, apparently think you have the blessings of God. Or... could it be that you THINK you are God. Oops! Now, dear, that is arrogance and delusion, but don't let me be the one to clue you in. You are a nut job without a job. I hope at some time God does smile on you and make you a "real boy" instead of a wooden one. I really do. There are miracles, and I have seen them. In your case I won't be holding my breath. In your case in your septic tank I hope you can not only hold your breath, but your tongue. You are a little more than mentally unstable.

To each his own. I DO NOT appreciate someone trying to force their religious beliefs on myself or others. The Religious Right Fundamentalists are some of the scariest self righteous people I have ever met. They hide behind the Bible, which wasn't actually written untill 400 yrs. after the facts. They justify hate. A twisted bit of irony!!

Hey, Adrian Vance on these posts says he PAYS for women. Now THAT must give you a clue. LOL! Does he like women? No. Of course he's not a homosexual... he is a insecure delusional and hate mongering fear generating and greedy boogy man in the closet. Is he coming out? Probably not because he doesn't know on which side of the door he is located. You see, in his world, everything is dark. Sadly that is where he has chosen to be. If there is a doorway to Heaven then there must be a doorway out of Hell and I truly hope that someday he discovers it. He is a pretty miserable guy and I say people who love, well, love lasts an eternity and I don't think anyone, gay or not, enters in to a marriage for any other reason but love. I am heterosexual, and I really didn't CHOSE it. It is just what IS for me. I can't say what is right or wrong for anyone else and hope that love and joy is in everyone's life. As "Polly Anna" as that sounds I have never seen this moive, but I have heard that it has a great ending. It isn't as important where you start out as important as where you end up. I have heard of the movie about the story of "Polly Anna", but I doubt seriously that there will be a movie about Adrian Vance, adn if there was I wouldn't go see it. I would only assume it had a bad ending and that in itself is punishment enough. I do pray for Adrian on occasion, but only after I pray for the people who really try to be loving, grateful and generous who are courageous, honest and loyal to the world's precious people. Then again that's just me and I have that right. Our happiness (or our unhappiness) belongs to us. Our souls belong to us too.

The funny thing is I have a career I love and once you know what you love and make it your career the money follows. It's just the way it is, so, pekr head, Donna Christ, cornhule, cornflake all those other assumed identities put your head together (you know you are really losing it when you have delusions of yourself with all those names and they are all nasty hateful "people") and just post ONE thing that you love.
