Nicely done - fire her when she's young, pregnant, just starting her career, and need support the most. Jesus would be so proud of them!

I don't condown what she has done, but Anon is absolutely right and the catholics on this forum wonder why people are anti-catholic. More importantly, they made God look bad.

I see a multi million dollar LAWSUIT coming. Hope the school is ready for that.

The school can't prevent every debauched, unethical and un-Catholic act of profligacy by its employees, but its unequivocal message that it won't subsidize debauched, unethical and un-Catholic acts of profligacy by its employees is good enough for me, though.

What next? Banning co-ed lockers!?

I'm not Catholic, but it is refreshing to see a Catholic college actually profess Catholic doctrine.

My guess is that the students would suffer less harm from this woman than they would from pedophiles. If they were allowed to continue their careers and criminal pastimes, why did this happen? Good job folks, you really need some more scandal and you will again bring it upon yourselves. Another gold star for catholic leadership!

BTW, does anyone know how many unmarried and married women and nuns have been impregnated by Catholic priests and bishops, would that be called debauchery or recreation?

Good job. I wouldn't want some 5th grade teacher with an illegitimate pregnancy in front of my kid either. If she wanted a no values, standardsless, who is to say what's right and wrong environment, she should've applied with the public schools.

I guess premarital hetero sex is outlawed by the catholic "church," but diddling the altar boy doesn't count. Hypocrite a holes, all of them.

AND,
how do they know she had premarital sex? Could have been a virgin conception, right? It has happened before, hasn't it, bible thumpers?

See, private schools have a place. Your kids can go to public schools and everyone will be happy.

The story here is what? She signed a contract to teach at a Catholic School. The contract she signed stated she would live a life that upheld Catholic teaching. She has premarital sex and is pregnant. This is not Catholic teaching. She is told she needs to resign. She does this. kevvin and Victor your anti-Catholic bias is showing like a long slip under a mini-skirt.

The article stated she resigned. I'm sure if you broke a contract with your employer you'd be told to resign also.

She didn't uphold her end of the contract. End of story.

The irony of this situation is that if this young teacher had an abortion she'd still have her job.

Instead, she follows the "pro-life" doctrine that the Catholic churches uses as it's reason for supporting Republican policy--a platform that is anti-poor, pro-money changer, pro-war, pro-death penalty--so was there an attempt at a compromise (such as putting teacher on leave of absense and into an administrative and/or educational support role with no student contact)?

Nope fire her premarital sex without the benefit of a shotgun catholic hush-hush/hurry up farce of a wedding @ss.

Pure hyprocrisy is what this is--from the same people who bring you interracial adoptions without cultural diversity training.

If you are pro-choice and appear to hate the Catholic Church, why dont you leave the church and spare us your bashing.

My bias is against the church leadership, and I obviously want it showing, not the church, which is NOT the leadership. You must know that there is a difference.

Regardless of our own choices, there are millions of Pro-choicers within the Catholic church, as you must be aware, just like there are millions who have issues with other church policies and leadership, who are still within the Catholic church. The leadership may want to reject them, but they are still contributing followers. Surely you know that.

Why didn't they take a hard line with pedophiles, didn't they "break a contract" and was that also not Catholic teaching, even if it was condone by leadership through cover up? Church leadership "forgave" the priests sins and moved them on elsewhere. What's so hard to understand why this has become so controversial?

No lawsuit here. She signed a contract. Unless they go by the contract law that atheletes, entertainers and coaches have.
