Not only do the students go to directors homes some of them also have their cell phone numbers. It's been said that several of the directors actually meet with students and play poker.
As to whether it was consensual, is not even an issue. He was a teacher and she a student. As parents we should be outraged that this has happened and if things do not change within in Keller High School Band it could possibly happen again. Teachers are not hired to be students friends but rather to be educators.

Hello, I am a former member of the KHS Band. I am posting this in the hopes that some media representative will read this and a full investigation of the KHS Band's activities will be looked into. As a former band member, I can honestly say that there is a lot of corruption that is unseen in that organization, and that there is a much bigger news story here than Pompa's situation.

I recall on many occasions students talking about going to play poker with the directors at a local grill. Many of those same students have in fact been to the director's houses. The Assistant Band Director Sam Henderson supposedly threw a giant party for the graduated senior males shortly after graduation. In addition to that, the band directors, namely the Head Band Director, Mark McGahey have often threatened students into cheating with the consequences of humiliation, demotions, or expulsion from the band.

The problem with the band directors at Keller High School is that they think they are invulnerable. They're not. Parents complain about the band directors, but never act due to fear of repercussions on their children. The other problem is that the head of Fine Arts in KISD, David Stevens, is too chicken to do anything about this, for he is well aware that all of this that is going on and has yet to properly act.

I strongly urge all of the frustrated parents to take a stand, to do what is right! There is strength in numbers. I believe it is either going to take a group of parents or a media field day to set things right in the KHS Band. I pray for the current and future members that something happens soon.

You have your facts all wrong. I am not sure who this is, but it sounds as if you have some personal vendetta against the Keller High School Band. It is not time to strike against the members and faculty, but time to stick together and pull through in light of something so terrible. If you have problems with the directors, confront them about it. Do not go onto a website, unnamed, and talk lies about the program. If media does see this, then the reputation of the program will desenegrate even more. Unless you are willing to state your name and accuse, stay out of it. As a alumini of the band also, I would like to say that the accusations this person stated are completely false, and am in no way reflective of the true nature of the band. It is too bad something so horrible had to tarnish a great program. Lets just hope everyone else can stick together, and those that do not want to can stay out of it.

I am so sick of people talking crap about the program!! I was in the Keller Band and very active at that, Pompa was know and very loved when I was there and my graduating class is shocked by his actions but how dare people judge the band as a whole because of his HORRIBLE actions. That band works so hard for so many hours sweating bullets, they will be fine because of directors like Mr McGahey who works you harder than you can imagine but at the end of it all you'll look back and thank him for it. The band will never be the same without Martinez but no one talking on the news is looking at the whole story; they just see that Pompa made a HUGE mistake, yea he's gunna pay for it. BUT that band program is amazing, its like a family & THEY'RE ALWAYS READY! Fly like a flock in a V and never forget the times you share :)

We are all shocked at what Mr. Pompa did, and none of us expected it. We cannot change what has already happened, so we might as well move on. No one can deny that what Mr. Pompa did was wrong, but we all have to move on. We can only pray that what happens in the outcome does not effect the band. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Pompa and his family. As for the rest of the directors, they are great men, and are trying as hard as they can to keep this program up and running, and there is no fault in that.

I do not know the current director that the story was about but Mr. McGahey never acted in any way other than upstanding and fair. With his teaching abilities and the talent of the KHS band, he would never need to resort to such underhanded means to achieve what they have.
