there is more to this story, and the fact that this man will get away with murder is astounding to me. Richie was a good kid, going to see HIS kid on her birthday....

homeowner, firefighter or not, You should be ashamed at the lies you are using to get away with this.

police dept, the fact that you bought these lies, is proof that you do not do your jobs.

sad, and so glad I no longer live there.

RIP Richie, we will miss you.

My fellow freind deedee. Ever heard the the law that you are not soppose to step foot and break into a mans house? And i bet you anything the fireman done this on self defence. No I don,t think there is more to this story then that I think this was an act of self defence. A off duty fireman would not open fire if he found some-one busting into a his house. There had to be a reason. And let me ask you this mrs are mr deedee are what ever you call yourself? Did this person have a mile long record???

This has to be wrong he never would rob anybody? Well he just did and what do you expect. Did the police just up and make this up? I don,t think so the fact is he did it! What is wrong with you people. Something tells me you people are not into the high classed are even middled class catagory setting here and defending those who go around robbing are trying to kill people. And yes apparently his life must have been in danger are he would have just called the police instead of shooting him. Regardless we won,t know the facts until we hear them.

I knew richard he was lucky to weigh 150 lbs if that so let meget this strait an off duty fireman felt so in fear for his life that he had to shoot a boy multiple times not 1 or 2 or even 3 times but more than that to stop this boy from robbing his house when a shot to his leg would have stopped him until police could arive... Huh sounds like a crock of shit to me that a man who helps save lives would be so quick to take one

My dear fellow freind we don,t know the investagation yet. True if that would have been me I would have justed kick his butt from one end of the house to another and i would have carried his skinny butt all the way to the police station were he would be booked on processed on robbery. However it always doesn,t work that way. He should not have and I wished he would not have done such a stupid thing like this but he did. And you know the drill you could get shot! Rather we agree are like it are not when you bust into some of these people,s homes they have there own ways of beleiving. You are I are any other goon on this forum was not there so we don,t know the real inside just yet. And if he was not in fear for his life then the fire department should kick his butt and tell him there are better ways to handle a intruder other then to shoot them. But we can,t change the law and the fact is think before you bust into a mans house my freind. Just think if he would not have been stupid and would have lived a great life and would not have done this he would have still been alive today.

This kid does not look like such a bad person in his profile. It,s ashame that he had to live his life in a troubled life. I have had neigbors from years ago that got into trouble many many times and they never changed. They either ended up in prision are perhaps a couple are too managed to change. Sooner are later these people end up getting killed are they end up killing somebody. In my opnion sooner are later with that kind of life style he would have ended up killing somebody himself. The bothering fact on this is the fact that he left a kid behind. What is the kid going to grow up to say about what happened to his daddy?

I know Richie's family I grew up with the Spiers- they lived a block and a half away from us-what an upstanding family, loving, caring, would give the shirt off their backs....I am in shock as to why the fire fighter thought it fit to load off a round into Richie, I think a shot to the leg would have stopped him right in his tracks and would have spared his life....Richie was a father, son, grandson, uncle, nephew, brother and I am sure his family is completely crazed over this madness....Hmmmmmm a professional fire fighter/ paramedic couldn't figure out how to stop Richie without unloading on him....THIS IS HORRIBLE....A TRAGEDY......A LIFE THAT DIDN'T HAVE TO BE TAKEN.....MY HEART BLEEDS FOR THE SPIERS FAMILY

IT'S GONNA BE KIND OF HARD FOR A DEAD MAN TO DEFEND HIMSELF. FIRE FIGHTER WILL WALK A FREE MAN AND NOT BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR HIS SO CALLED(SELF DEFENSE)ACTIONS,OF COURSE THE LAW WILL UPHOLD THE TOLD STORY OF THE FIRE FIGHTER BUT CANNOT EVER GET/HAVE/OBTAIN/HEAR THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY.

Let me get this straight..... I don't care what anyone looks like or what their weight is, you are in my house, you better hope I have an off day, because it will be your last!!!!! If someone shows up to my house unexpected, I do answer my door with a 45 every time. Especially with the tattoos, gauges, flat billed hat (spells thug to me). Hopefully, the next person, "going to his daughter's birthday party," doesn't swing by and invite himself in a place he doesn't belong. Maybe he should have "dropped" by Wal-Mart instead. And as for how many times he was shot, who cares, he was somewhere he should not have been!!! Once people learn to respect others and their property, this will happen a lot less! Cudos for taking our streets back! When the upstanding citizens continue to take the streets back and contine to fight back the POS's will finally get the point we are serious! Good Day!

The peeps from up north knew this guy cuz he jus moved down to tx maybe under a yr ago.....for the record he was always in trouble, even stole from his own mom, sold drugs and did them as well. Not a stand up citizen at all....do I feel bad cuz he died yes cuz he left behind a baby girl...but that's the choice he made....the firefighter did what he had to do.
people need to get a reality check if u do bad things bad things will happen to u....stop being such eff ups get ur life together or this will be u.....
And honestly the whole family is a bunch of eff ups

This just posted on another site listed above... Guess those on this site did not know him as well as they thought!!!! This claim is just as I had suspected! And I am sure the next claim is, he moved here and changed his world around.. WHATEVER!

You being from Illinois, I am sure you probably knew him. I am sorry for that! Who cares if his story will be heard...... He was in someones house he was not invited into!!! If you don't like how the south handles things, STAY OUT OF TEXAS!!! Every state needs the "Castle Law" and maybe punks would think twice about the actions they take. The crime rate would drop significantly. I guess it is okay for the punks to be in places they shouldn't because 90% of the time we can't prove who it was, but it is not okay to shoot someone in your home, in your space. B&*#S&%* is what I say about that. I would be interested in an autopsy to see what drugs were in his system at the time of death.

'outstanding wonderful people' don't raise their progeny to be criminals. Texas state law gives us permission to shoot and kill criminals on our property. The punk was 21-years old, a full-grown man legally responsible for his own death due to his willingness to roll the dice and gamble against the consequence of his criminal actions.

Unknown...... Yes, I am VERY unsympathetic to those who have the sense of entitlement to whatever they feel they can get their hands on. Maybe the key here is that this is public knowledge and more people are understanding that we will not put up with the disrespect of ourselves or our belongings!! Extreme? Seriously? I think if you are in a place you shouldn't be, all bets are off! I would do the same exact thing as this person... My household is HEAVILY armed and for a reason!!! All I can say is I hope someone will think twice before coming onto my property, in my house or not. The "castle law" will protect me against the drains on society! I guess for you, you should take away from this experience to keep your hands, feet and other objects to yourself and if it does not belong to you, leave it be. If you fail to comply with these simple rules, it may become your lucky day:)
