(CNN)- When Peter Sprigg speaks publicly about his opposition to homosexuality, something odd often happens.
During his speeches, people raise their hands to challenge his assertions that the Bible condemns homosexuality, but no Christians speak out to defend him.
“But after it is over, they will come over to talk to me and whisper in my ear,‘I agree with everything you said,’" says Sprigg, a spokesman for The Family Research Council, a powerful, conservative Christian lobbying group.
We’ve heard of the “down-low” gay person who keeps his or her sexual identity secret for fear of public scorn. But Sprigg and other evangelicals say changing attitudes toward homosexuality have created a new victim: closeted Christians who believe the Bible condemns homosexuality but will not say so publicly for fear of being labeled a hateful bigot.
As proof, Sprigg points to the backlash that ESPN commentator Chris Broussard sparked recently. Broussard was called a bigot and a purveyor of hate speech when he said an NBA player who had come out as gay was living in “open rebellion to God.” Broussard said the player, Jason Collins, was “living in unrepentant sin” because the Bible condemns homosexuality.
“In the current culture, it takes more courage for someone like Chris Broussard to speak out than for someone like Jason Collins to come out,” says Sprigg, a former pastor.“The media will hail someone who comes out of the closet as gay, but someone who simply expresses their personal religious views about homosexual conduct is attacked.”
When is disagreement hate?
Bryan Litfin, a theology professor at Moody Bible Institute in Illinois, says Christians should be able to publicly say that God designed sex to take place within a marriage between a man and a woman.
“That isn’t so outrageous,” Litfin says.“Nobody is expressing hate toward homosexuals by saying that. Since when is disagreement the same as hate?”
"christian shoots abortion dr" "christians beat up gay male" "christians kill millions during crusades" "christians god kills millions on bybull" " christian god says to stone naughty children"

Awwwww STFU, you aint the majority anymore......and now you are SCARED! Hahahahaha awwwwwwwwww.......Point and laugh everyone.

You christ-tards had it for 2400 years (you kills millions, forced millions to worship your gawd, scared and put fear into thousands of children, took money from the poor, spread lies......and now you are afraid you aint "it: anymore.....and well you aint!

Good riddance to religion. Logic and education has killed your god. Your god is officially dead.

Some atheists probably do hate Christians, or Muslims or Hindus. That has a lot to do with where the atheist lives. I don't hate all Christians, but it is fair to say that I hate religion. Religion is the enemy of free, civilized society.

Your links are propaganda. When you post that garbage, you add more embarrassment to your cause.

Boy, christ-tards sure are scared that the Atheists will become the majority and start treating the christians like the christians treated Athiests back in the 13th, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19th centuries.

Yeah do a little research and you will see that christians hung/tortured/burned/killed a helluva lot of people back in the day. Christians are afraid they will get what they dished out.....PLAIN AND SIMPLE TRUTH.

Well dont worry christian.....Athiests have ALWAYS been more moral than the religious. 98% of prison inmates claim a religion.....go figure.

"christians hung/tortured/burned/killed a helluva lot of people back in the day"

you guys just cannot get out of the OT long enough to consider that the followers of christ did not do those things.
as the new covenant in the NT declares be ye followers of christ.
those that dont follow him are not christians.
going to church and being baptised does not make them a christian any more than sitting in a garage makes them a car.

i know tomorrow you will probably repeat the same thing again and again, but at least i told you.

So you think that the 2000 years after Jesus were "Old Testament" times? It sounds like you need to go to school.

no what he/she is saying is that the people of allah are still in the ot and their beliefs are still of the ot.
they dont believe in jesus or the message of peace, love, and good will toward men that he brought.
and although they may claim to be men of god, their deeds tell on them. for it was these people that refused to believe on the son, that killed the son.

when i got saved i took on the covenant of the word, if you will. jesus is the word made flesh, and the fulfilling of the promise of the father. he was prophesied by isaiah 7:14 in the OT many centuries before his birth.
but some of the ones that think they are doing gods work, see us christians as the blasphemers. they think WE are the ones going against god. some of them spit on him and called him a blasphemer, when they murdered him.

sounds like something a democrat would do.

Christians are no better than Muslims. Over the past few millennia Christians have raped, tortured and murdered.

I always think it's funny when Christians try to distance themselves from the Old Testament. The god of the Old and New Testament is the same god, therefore you worship and admire a genocidal maniac...which is not something to be proud of. Also, the hate-mongering violence of the OT doesn't end with the NT. Jesus introduces eternal torment. What a nice guy, huh?

"he was prophesied by isaiah 7:14 in the OT many centuries before his birth." Biblical "prophesies" are either self-fulfilling or simply invented by the Biblical writers at the time of writing.

"but some of the ones that think they are doing gods work, see us christians as the blasphemers. they think WE are the ones going against god. some of them spit on him and called him a blasphemer, when they murdered him." This filth is an example of how Christianity divides people and inspires torture, murder and genocide. Christians have long persecuted others for not accepting their version of a fiction.

If you have to go that far back to find something to blame all Christians for then you have wasted your time doing all that looking backwards. Evidently what you claim that was done by ALL Christians back then hasn't happened for a "few milennia", as you put it, so it would seem that things have improved, so what was your point?

Do you just like demeaning people so you will feel elevated above them? Does your ego need stroked so bad that you have to go back in history to find fault?

Do something kind for your fellow man or your country/community, that will give you a better feeling and it doesn't require belief in a god.

"If you have to go that far back to find something to blame all Christians for then you have wasted your time doing all that looking backwards." A waste of time? It is a lengthy record of what Christians do when they gain the seat of power. We must never forget that. Christians still commit crimes today, ruin people's lives and impede intellectual and scientific progress.

"Evidently what you claim that was done by ALL Christians back then hasn't happened for a "few milennia", as you put it" I did not say that ALL Christian commit atrocities. Also, I do not say that Christian atrocities were not committed during the last few millennia. The contrary is true. That's the main point. The big three religions are inherently violent and they will continue to plague civilization until they die out.

"you have to go back in history to find fault?" I can find fault today. Why do you not keep up with world events?

"Do something kind for your fellow man or your country/community, that will give you a better feeling and it doesn't require belief in a god." Right. Invisible friends are not required to do any of that, so why do you assume that I don't do those things? See, you believe that religion has a corner on charity.
