Baldrock fire dept

Someone keeps deleting the posts about this dept. an earlier post stated they needed a new chief. Can anyone tell me if they have a sufficient number of trained firefighters? A sufficient number of trained officers? I've always wanted to join this dept, and could probably bring several guys with me. I am on a neighboring dept, and would be willing to help if needed. I am not interested in being chief, or getting involved in the problems you may be having. However , woodland fires require manpower, house fires require manpower, and manpower is what I can assist you with.

I understand what your saying , but why didn't anyone else from baldrock respond. The chiefs duties should not include fire suppression. The chief manages the officers and firefighters. Why did the firefighters not respond? If you are a qualified firefighter, you do not need the chiefs permission to respond when dispatched. That's why I have asked the same question 2 times already, "does this dept have a adequate number of trained fire personnel? Are you a member of this dept ? 5414

If you are an able bodied person, male or female, and are not a member of this dept, then you have no right to complain. Either join the dept, or hold a community meeting and address this problem. Address your concerns to the laurel county fiscal court, afterall they are funding this dept. if you want to see change , you have to make it happen.

I'm a firefighter at another department in the county and the chief is on our department as well and they have are 13 firefighters and need more. You can go to their meetings on Monday nights and fill out an application or get a hold of their chief.

If they have 13 firefighters, why did they not respond to the forest fire?

forest fires are the KDF's problem not the Baldrock Fire Dept they are there to nearly assist forestry.. Structure fires a different story. they have more than 13 people and all are certified they maintain the required hours as requested by the KFC and have trainings through out the month, If you are interested in becoming a part maybe you should put in a application like one said. but from what ive been told they are doing 100% better since they have got rid of a few people on the department. daytime fires are like any other department man power is limited

metoo I dont know who your talking about them getting rid of.
If your talking about the former chief you really should stop.
From what I could tell baldrock fire dept was on top of its game when slusher was chief. Calls were responded to quickly and handled properly.
If bvfd wants respect they should first be respectful, if they want to be firefighters at a volunteer dept they should be ready to roll at a moments notice.
Most of the volunteers do have jobs and we all have to feed our families. those guys not being available during working hours is completely understandable but there are several members that dont work. Dont hold a job.
All I want is a working functional fire department. No drama, no jealousy. We have already had to much of that in our fd.
And if anyone thinks a fire chief that lives over 20 miles away can do an effective job you probably need to rethink the situation.

hmm i agree to disagree.. and nope not talking about the former chief he got rid of himself from what i hear. And i agree calls were probally answered a little faster and the chief living 20 miles away hmm well since when did the "chief" have to be at every call.. its the "chiefs" call to run the station not the calls its the "chiefs" call to have his department and personel ready to answer what situation comes about, and on top of its game as you said,, if you call no hours being put in,no runs being put in,no training going on,yep your right. lets also mention that what hours were put in 90% were put in wrong catagories or what calls got ran were far from being held in a professional manor cussin and carrying on like a mad man.. lets not forget i remember working a wreck with them a while back and the way a few of them were acting all i can say is LOL. and as far as drama,,, none and jealousy,, none.. come on down next monday and we can get to know each other a little better. i have to take my little brother to get some hours and would rather go there then my own primary station..

Im assuming you haven't been informed about KDF downsizing. It was on the news last month that they are closing several offices, and experiencing layoffs. This is causing longer response times with fewer resources. The solution our state has come up with? Local departments, paid or volunteer, will have to pick up the slack. I say let the forest burn, and protect any exposures such as homes, cabins, etc....
