nah...i like the trashiness.

sure, the downtowns of small town america will never be what they once were, but the obsolescence of Corbin's downtown area represents an opportunity to use it as a canvas of sorts to experiment with new ideas about what public spaces can be or offer.

everything goes in cycles, embrace the change, embrace the spontaneous. IMHO the 'clean cut' aesthetic of London's downtown is very monotonous. the main street feels very constricted and the govt. buildings are all but inspiring.

you can't return the Corbin downtown to what it once was, but why would you want to? be open minded enough to allow for new ideas to take shape and one day you might wake up to find a vibrant, aesthetically interesting and bohemian downtown in Corbin, maybe a place that has a real cultural pulse to it.

I see we are getting another one of those really pretty and economical metal buildings over by the post office too. I wonder who is putting it up? I thought we were not going to allow that anymore. I guess taxes are taxes in hard times.

As long as they keep it clean, and it is bringing in jobs, why would it matter? Taxes are taxes during any time. If they sweep their sidewalk, keep it cleaned off in the winter time, and keep the trash picked up, that's a good thing. Look at some law offices, and others for that matter, you are being charged for the interior and exterior decorating. On top of the fees that they charge.

Mr Salmons is in charge of the "beautification" now. Take up the trashy look with him and city leaders. Pitiful!

Many cities have revitalized their downtown areas, but it's a group effort. The business owners must work with the city to coordinate the revitalization .
