Hi all just wondering if there are any Wiccan Covens/groups in London or anyone that knows much about the religion?

Ouch...I am sure that question is sure to get you some major bashing in this area of Ky. Watch out for the modern day witch hunt. Hopefully you won't have a bunch of bible thumpers coming on here and bashing you. Maybe someone intelligent and full of knowledge can answer this question, because I am curious about it also. I just didn't have the guts to ask it.

I wish that I knew other Wiccans/Pagans in the area. It is a shame that most people have to hide it out of fear.

From what I know, a lot of people think it started back in the 1950s with Gerald Gardner. Others say it began in early Egypt, although I feel that's a totally unrelated religion. I personally think it (the original Wicca type of nature and Goddess worship) originated and arose with one of the ancient Britain or Celtic religions, perhaps druidism. Although it probably wasn't called Wicca back then, Gardner may have come up with that word and a mutation or variation of the old beliefs.

Or were you just wanting to know who in the area is Wiccan? There's a few that show up here on the London forum once and a while that said they are of that religion.

Lol Heartsong, I'm sure your right about the bashing I will get but I think it would be worth it if I can get some good information.

This is not a secret that I know of or I wouldn't give it out here. If you want to meet or learn about other Wiccans in the area go to 627 West Fourth Street Lexington Ky, 40508. I been told it's a kind of Church and organization place for pagan beliefs.

The Unitarian church off of Man-o-war Blvd in Lexington. There are many different pagan faiths represented there. It really surprises me the strange info a person can pick up.

I've never met any other pagans in the area, so I would presume there isn't a coven.

Hey, I just found out I gave you the wrong address on that 627 West Fourth Street Lexington Ky, 40508. That's one a friend wrote out two years ago for directions for when my uncle was in the hospital. Sorry about that. I'll look for the right one.

I know a Pagan gathering is held at one of the rental buildings at Levi Jackson (Park) once in a while. Maybe once a year. A Ranger (Ranger Bob) told me about it when I was sixteen.

I noticed yesterday there was a Wicca or pagan thread on the Somerset forum and there seemed to be a bit of talking on it. Might try taking a look at it. I'll keep looking for that address I mentioned. I have a habit of sticking pieces of paper in drawers, small boxes, in books, etc, and forgetting where I put what. I'm sometimes not the most organized person in the world when it comes to locating small things.

Wiccans going to church? LOL Now that is funny. I have never heard the likes of such before in my life. For one thing Wiccans worship out in nature. Wicca is a nature based religion. It stresses living in harmony with all creatures and the earth. It honors a Goddess and God that is contained in all nature and in ourselves. The Goddess and God are an aid for Wiccans to focus inner power and the power that is found in all of nature. Wicca is practiced in a group (coven or grove) or solitary.

"If you take the Christian Bible and put it out in the wind and the rain, soon the paper on which the words are printed will disintegrate and the words will be gone. Our bible IS the wind."

A Unitarian church is an entirely different thing and religion. A religious association of Christian origin that has no official creed and that considers God to be unipersonal, salvation to be granted to the entire human race, and reason and conscience to be the criteria for belief and practice.

Wiccans can and sometimes are witches, but witches aren't necessarily Wiccans. If you would like some good information about Wiccan and or witches try...witchvox.com You might also find out where they are at in the are *wink*

"O Lady of the Fair Hair,
Sing to me of the fair ancient land.
Yours divine voice
Whispers the poetry of magic
that flow through the wind,
Like sweet-tasting water of the Boyne.
"Girls, forever young and beautiful,
Dancing around the broken dun,
Where long forgotten heroes
sang of victory
And drank ales
to old memories."

Sorry Jenny I don't know her. There are a lot of Whillows, Willows and the like on the net. It is a common name among those that practice Magick.

Ohhhh the good ole days of dancing naked around a bon fire, listening to the beat of the drums, making love under the moon light, letting the spirit roam free.

I have been a practicing pagan for 15 year now. There are quite a few of us here in the area. Witchvox is a good place to look, find, and contact people. There are a few in the area that sometimes have meetings. Blessed Be to all and Merry Yule.
