Recent moves suggest Bennett is going to be effective. I hope he succeeds breaking up the old boy network where people got big jobs based on connections not ability or experience. How much money did the elimination of two administrative central office positions save? I submit we have been top heavy for years and this move will free funds for more important matters.
Just created two new ones with the same pay, probably for the same people.

You are way off on your time line buddy...oak hadn't been a board member for over a decade when Joe was put in. Joe was selected under GC because of the work he had done in the finance dept to get the system out of debt but it is no secrect he was a favorite of Hayward Gilliam. As for the ousting I don't think you have a clear picture but that's not my story to tell.
I agree with people are crazy. Joe McKnight followed the rule set by Hayward Gilliam and GC Garland and probably those before them... show me you can do the job in the job you have and you will move forth. They all were truely men there for the right reason and would still be successful. High expectations of self and others reap rewards. That's what these men were about. Yes, I remember board election meetings in the Barn to determine strategies to get the people who were really concerned about education in Laurel County elected. Yes I would go back to benefit the students and people of Laurel County. For the past three or more years we have been going out of county in manyc ases to select principals and teacher from failing schools or districts, one even, well I won't say........ What does this say to our local people who have given their all to the students of Laurel County and our children who want to be teachers and come home to work like I did 35 years ago! Sick, Sick, Sick.........

Since some of the not needed, high paying jobs have been cut; perhaps a pay raise is in the future for those lower on the totem pole.
So misinformed! Three jobs done away with, three created at the same rate. Strategy.... do away with the job and get rid of the person. Create a job and fill it with a friend! That's how that works! Curriculum coaches make the same as a teacher, no extra pay. Assist students, teachers, and principals if they are doing what the job was intended to be so they will be missed and they will be taking the job of some young teacher that needs a job to pay off those school loans .... Forgot why should I care someone from out of county would probably be hired! Not a chance for pay raises..... again none basically since McKnight left they made a difference! People really need a real education about the education system in Laurel County!

G.C. Garland, an educator respected and liked by teachers and staff. He did much for our system. When he left our schools were in great shape. I do hope Bennett can turn the system around. Some very good people in Whitley county say he was a very respected as an educator and person. Time will tell.
I heard Whitley County is laughing at us..........

Did the CC's get put back into the classroom?? Well played Bennett well played. I bet they are about to die. It's much easier to boss teachers than be one! lol It will be interesting to see it all when the dust settles. I'm hoping he is truly cutting positions not needed and not just switching things around to make it look that way.
Sorry Lets see. I believe your last statement will be prove to be true.

What happened, about 1990 HB 940 passed with a provision for School Based Decision Making. This allowed Nepotism vs. Politics. The Ky Legislature traded one form of advantage for another. Who you are related to and who you are friends with is basically politics. So what? Instead of people who had experience with training, evaluating, and hiring people(Superintendents and Principals) were taken out of the picture to hire the school leaders and teqachers. Now, 23 years later when every student would be proficient we are here. SBDM councils were never prepared to do this job, salaries in Laurel County have been rarely been increase even to the COLA level, and we must look at the skills the new teachers are coming to work with. If you know a new teacher well they will tell you.

that is a Powerful and True statement old man! make ye wonder if it may have to do with some of the people that make some of the decisions. Sometimes I think middle school students could do A better job with the budget and improve things here! No raises in for ever for laurel co school system employees but they can sure increase the taxes

Instead of maintaining building regularly. they let them go to rack and ruin, then a big construction contact is put out then let the graft begin!
Look at South Laurel a few years ago Had regular maintenance occurred the building would not have deteriorated to the point of having to be partially rebuilt and painted that terrible sh*t stain brown.
It is about how much money can I pocket or how much money can I get to my friends to make more money.

Everything in Laurel County is who you are and what you have got. Schools, sports, everything. It's all politics!!! No one seems to care about our children's future. They are just there to draw a paycheck.
