I Don't know why they tore down a historical building for a damn clothing store. We didn't need another clothing store. Corbin just sucks more and more every year.

That's a historical building? I think you're hysterical.

I know it's been there over 40 years, Why wouldn't you consider it historical? I spent my whole childhood and teen years going there. I LOVED that place. Screw you if you think I'm hysterical. All they ever do is ruin this town and I'm sick of it.

Two options. Either move, or you could have purchased/rented the theater and reopened it. Otherwise, it was going to sit there and rot.

The theater was not a historic building, nor was it 40 years old. The theater was in poor condition, and the owners of the building decided to build something new. This is common practice in the business of real estate. If you want to talk about historic buildings, St. Camillus should have never been torn down.

You may think that 40 years is old but for a building it isn't enough to be considered old much less historical on the basis of age. It certainly doesn't have any architecture that is unique. Now if someone famous lived there it might make it historical at 40 years of age. However, as a movie theater at best someone got conceived there but probably not a famous person.

Just because you grew up and went to movies there does not make it famous for historical purposes. It's just a place that you remember fondly from your youth and nothing more.

Hey Gothic Girl, screw all these losers who probably did not grow up in Corbin, KY. and don't know crap! I agree with you. How about they put in an INDEPENDENT THEATER, That way people can watch the other good films, and old films that a commercial theater won't play. Just a small town in fear of progress. A small town in fear that their kids might see something other than some dumbA SS redneck crap.
If it is some movie about this hillbilly falling in love with his sister, but still has feelings for his cow, then hell yeah! Corbin is all for it!

That is the understatement of the century.

So many people around here have such issues with change. Let's all keep doing the same things that aren't working. That will show us.

I grew up going to the theatre. I spent many late nights

... there after the crowds had left. You know what I say. Good on them.

This town needs new business much more than it needs another run-down eyesore of days past.

"If you forget where you have been, you will never see where you are going." The place should have been repaired. Like a 59' Cadillac or a 77' Vette. Some things are worth saving. We don't all live on cell phones, watching NEW movies. Opening an independent theatre would have made new business. Lots of people drive from hundreds of miles just to experience their childhood again. Change IS NOT always good, despite what you may have heard.

You have to have customers paying for enough goods and services to stay open. For a customer base interested in old movies you will lose a bunch to television and internet. And this is Corbin, not Cincinnati or Chicago where there are a lot of people and a lot more that are going to be interested in old movies AND going to a movie theater. The customer base just isn't there in Corbin. Several older theaters (older than Corbin's) have been be remodeled and reopened for those kinds of movies. They didn't make it. Too many people start businesses on the basis of "there isn't another one around here so I'll make a fortune". The reason there isn't another one around usually is because there is not a customer base to support it. This is one of those cases. For what it's worth, I'd be more inclined to go to an old movie than a new one but what I call an old movie is one from before the Corbin movie theater was there. And it seems like there was a movie theater downtown that your movie theater replaced. Now yours isn't surviving. Things change and you can't stop it.

Even if she moved, there would still be ignorant humps like you. Seems you country Neanderthals like it better when there isn't anyone different,(or smarter) than "Ya'll" in your clan. filth, breeding filth, breeding filth. Maybe your right. Someone smart enough to see how bad things are here, maybe should move. A white swan kind of sticks out amongst black ducks. Wouldn't want to upset the primitive redneck in his natural environment.
