Dow tops 14,500 for 1st time; S&P also nears record

Wall Street rose again Thursday and the Dow extended its recent winning streak to 10 days in early trading, topping the key 14,500 mark for the first time ever, after data showed the labor market recovery is gaining traction.

The broader S&P 500 was also closing in on its all-time high in the wake of new record levels for the Dow.

A 10-day run of advances for the Dow would match a string of gains last seen in late 1996. U.S. equities have accelerated since the start of the year, boosted by improvement in the economy and continued easy monetary policy from the Federal Reserve.

hehe
"You don't string together more than eight or nine days very often," said Jack De Gan, chief investment officer at Harbor Advisory Corp in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

That's good news to hear for the country, people rarely post good news on here. I appreacte you posting some for a change.

But please do us all a favor, hehe, and don't try to make this all about President Barrack Hussein Obama and what a wonderful job he's doing for everybody. Just leave it at some good news.

We have to give credit to someone...
Not the Republicans, they haven't done nothing...
Nada, zip, zero, zilch... nothing

hehe, that's a double negative it should be "They haven't done anything"

Any if you want to give credit, try the business leaders, stock brokers, or investors in the market. Or perhaps you could give credit to the Governors and Mayors of States and Cities that have balanced their budgets allowing business to grow.

You seem to be a fairly intelligent individual, hehe, you are capable of independent ideas. Not everything good that happens is because of President Barrack Hussein Obama, and not everything bad that happens is the fault of "those evil Republicans".

Just take some good news as good news, and try to stop campaigning for the man.

First, let me say - You are correct, that sentence structure is a double negative. I did actually start to say "They haven't done anything" and at the last minute changed the anything to nothing...

Secondly, for 4 years I have witnessed the RADICAL RIGHT blame every little insignificant thing on our President and therefore feel obligated to correct the misrepresentations about his Presidency.

As the RIGHT has pointed out on numerous occasions, The President sets the tone for businesses to develop

IF the economy IS picking up a little, it is in spite of Obumer's policies, not because of them. Give any credit to the un-stopable American spirit.

hehe,

I see the point you are making about the "Radical Right" always blaming the current White House administration. However I have yet to see many of the "Liberal Left" posters on here make any criticism about President Barrack Hussein Obama.

Its one thing to point out the oblivious shortcomings of the ultra conservatives on here, many of whom ignorantly vote for a candidate based solely on party affiliation. It is an entirely different to blindly support the current President based on his party, his background, or cline. It would be a pleasure to see some self styled liberals or Democrats give some sober and objective assessments of the President and his policies, not simply a knee-jerk support and defense.

In regards to the original topic on this post, as I have mentioned before. A valid argument could be made to give credit to those involved in a free market or the elected officials in cities and states that have balanced budgets and are not in default or bankruptcy. They are the ones that create an environment where business grows and the market recovers, not Federal intervention. As we've seen in the past with GM and Solaris, Federal intervention simply wastes our tax money, and produces little growth.

The economy that the coon has anything to with is the 130,000 who stopped looking for work last month and the $17 Trillion he has run up. The Stock Market is the Republican Market, Idiot.

The stock market is because of all the fake money bernake is printing, has nothing to do with the real economy, look at the unemployment rate. 5% when it was this high before, now 14% at the same high. Just don't make sense. It's all going to bust!!

Treasurer is right, Ben "Bubbles" Bernanke is pumping the markets by offering cheap money to the banksters. The real economy has effectively stalled.

'New 2012 census estimates released Thursday highlight the population shifts as the U.S. encounters its most sluggish growth levels since the Great Depression.'

Stray Dog Talks Like a Republican....You Talk Like a Racist Republican....

If You Don't Want To Admit The Economy Is Starting To Improve...Then So Be It!!!...I wasn't Really Expecting a Republican To Give Credit For Anything Positive....To Anyone Other Than a Republican Anyway....

And There Was a Reason For The 130,000 To Stop Looking....They Found What They Were Looking For!!!....What Do You Do...Look For Your Car Keys....Find Them....And Then Keep Looking For Them???....

And If The Stock Market Is a {Republican} Market.....And The {Republicans} are Supposed To Be The Best People To Help The {Economy}.....Then Could You Explain Why The {Republican} Stock Market Has Been So Damn Weak Since 2006???....And Don't Pull a Republican Reply....And Blame The Democrats....Because You Yourself Said It was a {Republican} Market....

Keys? How does this have anything to do with a job? You are creating a strawman. Then in another line limit the answers available to suit your foolishness.

The Republican stock market and republican unemployment. The dems would kill for 4.5% unemployment. They just have no idea how to do it.

Take the imaginary healthcare jobs. Yes imaginary. R-T-O is Obama's type government. The truck is in the alley and the driver is looking for his keys to haul this putrid dying carcass of socialism to it's deserved Gehenna. Rent To Own is no way to run a Republic.

Well...I Guess The {Keyís} Thingy Was a Little Too Complicated For You To Grasp....So Iíll Say It This Way....If Youíre Jobless...and Youíre Out Looking For a Job...and Find One....Do You Continue To Look For a Job???...

And {Of Course} The Democrats Would Kill For a 4.5% Unemployment Rate.....Youíre Probably Not Gonna Believe This....Or Admit To It....But In 1998....The Unemployment was In The Neighborhood Of 4.3....4.4....4.5....Itís True Ralph!!!!....I Googled It!!!....I Giggled The Whole Time I was Googling It....Now I donít Remember Who It Said Was The President Back Then...Maybe You could Tell Everyone Who It Was Ralph.....

Do You Know What The Unemployment Rate Was In December Of 2008???....Google Says It was 7.3....Of Course I Forgot To Look To See Who Was In Office at {That} Time.....Maybe You Remember....But It Was Climbing.....And Climbing Hard.....And It Climbed Hard For About Two Years....Floated Around In The Stratosphere For awhile....And {Now}....Seems To Be On a Decline....Which Is a Good Thing!!!!...Right Ralph???...Because Youíre Not One Of Those Republicans Who Only Wants The Economy To Be Good If a {Republican} Is In The White House...Are You???.....Because Thatís Not Being Very Patriotic....

And I Agree That Rent To Own Is No Way To Run a Republic....Or Anything Else For That Matter....But Could You Explain What Is Being Rented To Be Owned???....and Also....How Would a {Republican} Run a Republic???....

If the economy is growing stronger , I cannot see it. This is the slowest my business has ever been. People simply do not have money to spend on items that aren't necessities. You cannot believe everything you see on television. If you want an accurate economic report, do a survey with local business owners. Money is tight, and that's the bottom line. With increased taxation in the near future, it will only get worse.

Bermuda Grass!!!!....

Bermuda Grass Goes Dormant...{And Turns Brown}... During The Colder Months....Then It Turns Green When The Temp Goes Up In The Warmer Months......

The Economy Is Like Bermuda Grass Going Into....Or Coming Out Of Dormancy.....It Doesn't All Turn Brown....{All At Once}....Just Like It Doesn't All Turn Green {All at Once}....

The Economy Isn't Moving as Fast I would Like It Either....But at Least It's Moving In The Direction...{Up}...That We all Want It To.....
