It appears that Piers might just be someone who really loves his daughter. Can we say the same about gun toters? Gun toters are cowards is what they are.
hmmmm lets see here.mr morgan would like to see the people stripped of thier rights to bear arms, leaving them no way to defend thierselves against a perp with a weapon. gun toters toting guns capable of defending thierselves against a perp with a weapon..........you make no sense! but i guess you could call 911 the police will be there in mins to assist you, when seconds count.the cowards are the gov, they want to disarm the people,so they wont have resistance

That's a very silly generalization.

So all police officers are cowards?
So all soldiers are cowards?

Gabby Giffords is a coward?

I know, I know, you're butthurt over losing a legislative vote and you want to lash out, but in doing so you make all us Democrats look bad.

idiot you are the government, "we the people".

also the 2nd amendment speaks of a well "regulated militia" are you part of a militia, or just a gun toter?

the 2nd amendment dictates three parts by the cunjunction of the word "and". it doesn't say "or".

so basically a bunch of idiots don't seem to understand english.

because the conjunction "and" dictates that all 3 parts must be met in order to qualify under the legal contract.

1. a well regulated militia is necessary
2. the right of the citizens to keep arms
3. the right of citizens to bear arms.

we don't allow minors to keep, bear, or be part of a militia.
we don't allow criminals to keep, bear, or be part of a militia.

well regulated usually entails keeping records and requirements of training in order to qualify as well and regulated.

actually there are people who understand it that way. i'm not crying even if you believe i am.

the link to the law definition interprets it that way. you're just ignorant of the fact and what the word "and" as conjunction mean.

it means a concurrence, combination. it doesn't mean this or that. it means the whole kit and kaboodle
Bronston Man wrote:

no need to try. you're doing it enough for everyone. "and" and "or" do not mean the same thing. "or" implies that you can have any of the things listed to qualify. "and" implies you have to have all those things listed to qualify.

your opinion is of little value in the face of facts. that is why justice can never be served when liars rule and practice contradictory to the law.

As is yours in the face of Supreme Court precedent.

But please, cling to your skewed syntax view of the 2nd amendment. No doubt any day now the Supreme Court will strip everyone of their right to defend themselves based on a grammar argument.

"I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them."

George Mason
Co-author of the Second Amendment
during Virginia's Convention to Ratify the Constitution, 1788

"And that the said Constitution be never construed to authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of the Press, or the rights of Conscience; or to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms;"

Samuel Adams
quoted in the Philadelphia Independent Gazetteer, August 20, 1789

"Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference they deserve a place of honor with all that's good."

George Washington

"Those who hammer their guns into plowshares will plow for those who do not."

Thomas Jefferson

"The constitutions of most of our States assert that all power is inherent in the people; that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed;"

Thomas Jefferson
letter to Justice John Cartwright, June 5, 1824

**********

But now really they were just blowing smoke. They wrote the document, they knew what the intentions of the 2nd amendment were, but in reality they left a legal loophole for English teachers to disarm free citizens two centuries later.

Regardless, the militia was never the National Guard. When the British invaded, all able-bodied men grabbed their guns and came together to fight. This was a militia, not granted legitimacy from any governmental body but by the free will of those involved.

idiot no one is stating that us citizens have to give up their weapons unless the are unwilling to be regulated and part of a militia. You have problems with reading. English is obviously a foreign language to you. And again it says citizens. It doesn't. Say men. Many women fought along side men.

You had best run on over to the post office and send this information to the Supreme Court (SCOTUS) because they strongly disagree with your fantasy.

The 2nd. Amendment allows citizens to be able to overthrow that "well regulated militia."

Militia ceases to be a "militia" once it is trained and equipped properly. In other words you idiot, "well regulated."

If English is your field of expertise, why are you using a false definition of "well regulated" rather than the definition commonly used in the 18th century? Well regulated meant nothing more than well equipped and well disciplined back then. Kind of like a watch that keeps the correct time is well regulated. It had nothing to do with being regulated by a government body. In fact the very purpose of the 2nd amendment is to recognize that citizens must have the means to control government, not another way for citizens to be controlled, as you would have it.
