The school of the law neewe to get involved with the pick up line at the school. These parents are going to be responsible for a very bad accident if something does not get them under control and teach them where and how to get in the line so no cars are in the road. I pass the school everyday at 3:00 and so many times and close calls of them parking in the middle of the road on both sides.. what's it going to take to get them off the highway?

It will take some idiot sitting in the road and something major to happen before anything is done and that is pathetic...guess they don't understand their child will still be there waiting even if their a few cars behind the first one..stupid parents needs more common sense..

I pick my child up everyday from school at Cold Hill. My problem I have is that everyone should go through the pick up line, but you have some that think they can run in get there kids and off they go. This is be fair for everyone!!!!

I don't like sitting in line just like everyone else

I agree parent. And some parents think they have to be first in line to get their child first.. news flash to them. Their brats are no better than my brat.. if my brat can wait till I make it through the line so can their brats...

This topic started out about how dangerous the pick up line is at Cold Hill Elementary. As I have had to wait for as high as 30 minutes for the idiots to get out of the road so traffic could move, I know what it's like. A very, very dangerous situation. I really don't understand why the Sheriff's Department or the Kentucky State Police aren't out there everyday, handing out tickets to people for obstructing the flow of traffic. A bad curve on the east side and a really bad hill on the west. Someone is gonna get hurt badly or God forbid, even killed if the situation isn't controlled better than what it is. People start lining up as early as 2:30 in the afternoon and I have seen and been tied up in traffic for at least a half mile. You have people coming from the west going east toward the school waiting to turn in and the people coming from the east (London)going west waiting to turn in. This brings traffic to a complete stand still. Something desperately needs to be done about this! I know one thing for sure, if myself or one of my family are injured in this situation, I will not STOP at sueing the Laurel County School System, I will sue the Sheriff's Department, the Kentucky State Police and anyone else I can think of. It's time they got up off their lazy butts and did something about this stupid mess.

Yes, the situation at Cold Hill School is very dangerous, I have almost been in several accidents there. My question to all these people is..
Why aren't these spoiled little darlings riding the buses that we all pay for? It was good enough for us. Just saying...

My sweet little darling does not ride the bus because I go into work when she goes to school and I get off when she gets out of school. It's not all about what child is to good to tide the bus but with enough experience with these overcrowded buses and a hour or longer bus rides, she won't ride a bus.

CARPOOL... Are you telling me that none of you people with kids at this school don't live on the same road or neighborhood?? That is what kills me, to see one person per car, most likely picking up one kid. Must be nice at $3.40 a gallon for you to hang out with the AC going and your engines running.

The pick up lines are a mess at a few other schools too. It's mainly because people don't consider others, only themselves. The rules don't apply to them. At least Cold Hill has a nice overhang so your kids don't get wet. My two stand out in the rain some days and wait for me, along with some assistants and teachers that do the pick ups.

The Ky Highway Dept. needs to add a turning lane on Hwy 192 near the pick up line at Cold Hill School. Failure to do so will eventually result in a terrible accident at the location.

I have spoken with the new principal and he led me to believe that something was in the works to address this problem. We'll see if he can get it done.

One of the problems is that the gate is not opened until 3:00. Now this wouldn't be a problem but that doesn't leave much road for the parents to pull off of to wait to get through the gate creating the backup on the road. Im a parent of a child that goes to cold hill and yes it is a problem. I pick my child up everyday because the bus takes over an hour from the time the bus pulls out of the school to drop my child off at home. this seems crazy to me when we live right behind the school just 5 minutes away. I hope the problem does get addressed because it is such an issue and a dangerous one also.

Join the crowd. Some of us haven't had a raise in over 5 years (not one single red cent) and our insurance goes up every year. Bringing home less now than I was 7 years ago. It isn't just the TEACHERS that are treated unfairly. It's most every hard working american citizen.

East Bernstadt Ind. had a terrible situation until they got a new Supt. and Principal who took the problem seriously and worked out a plan that works for all of us. These two ladies are a God send to our school. I can see so much improvement since they came. Our school as a whole is so much more organized and the teachers are giving it 110%. I am so glad to see the tech teacher working and not staying in the parking lot on his phone/radio. I don't think hiring a GT teacher who has worked with the program for several years and did nothing for the kids except a field trip was a good decision. I don't think the parents and students and other teachers will have the confidence in her that they will be taught. These kids have been so lacking in GT instruction that they needed someone fresh and with a proven work history, Other than that hats off to the teachers, staff and students.
