I was wondering how someone could be arrested for defending themselves on their own property..It sounds like he might have been trying too keep his son safe ya know.If someone did take their party balloons and they obviously knew who it was because they went to accuse and enter another mans property.......maybe just maybe the smart thing to do was call the police instead of confronting the man and his child...

It was not his child. The 14 year old struck first. The boy in the hospital is also a child.
What is wrong with you people? Justifing beating up a teenager and putting him in the hospital? He did not go there armed and ready to fight.

What kind of idiot is this Murphy? Beating a 14 year old boy with a Ball bat, and a pipe?
This man needs to be committed! along with his son! If teenagers are going to fight, they don't need adult assistance!
Sure, the Police should have been called but they are so darn long in coming, if they'd come over some missing balloons. I can't get them to come over adults riding babies(yes! babies!) on 4 wheelers in my neighborhood! So, what makes you think they'll come over some missing balloons?
And when, heaven forbit, one of these babies gets hurt, it'll be in the news and they'll be begging for money to help with the doctor bills, and we'll be reading about it here as well!
Want the police to come, scream bloody murder! they might come. Like the abulances in this county they don't where we live, try finding your house on Terra Server, or AOL Maps, 911 don't even know where I live, I've called abulances 3 times, twice I've been asked to meet them at the nearest intersetion, and once had to stand in my yard and flag the abulance down which was on a road behind my house. Then guiding them to my road by cell phone.
