Arrogant Mitch McConnell Thinks He’s Invincible and Can’t Lose the Kentucky Senate Race

Money isn’t everything, and it can’t buy you love. Republicans should have learned this in 2012, when Mitt Romney had all of the world’s big money behind him and he still couldn’t buy enough lies to win against Barack Obama.

In a new memo to be released Friday by the Grimes campaign that was obtained by PoliticusUSA, senior advisor Jonathan Hurst pointed out that Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) feels pretty invincible these days. Hurst observed that while McConnell has spent $10 million dollars, he’s still failing.

The fail,“One thing is indisputable over the last seven months: the braggartly, swaggering thirty year Senator’s Washington-style campaign is floundering. Before Alison entered the race, Mitch McConnell boasted that he would easily dispose of any opposition, proclaiming that “when anybody sticks their head up, do them out.” His campaign manager, Jesse Benton, even went so far as to say that they would run ‘the best statewide campaign in the history of United States American politics.’”

Hurst continued,“The evidence over the course of the campaign reveals exactly the opposite. Not only did Benton flop out of the gate, confessing that he was “holding his nose” to work for McConnell, but he also failed to keep out a self- funding, Tea Party primary opponent in Matt Bevin who has drained valuable time and resources from their campaign coffers.”

Republicans like Mitch McConnell appear to actually feel so emboldened by Citizens United that they feel invincible. McConnell has already spent $10 million on this race, and yet he is either head to head or trailing Alison Grimes in polls, and that was before his epic gun waving fail at CPAC.

David Corn, Mother Jones‘ Washington bureau chief, exposed a tape of McConnell made in February of 2013, in which he and his campaign discussed how they would destroy any opposition,“I assume most of you have played the, the game Whac-A-Mole?”(Laughter.) This is the Whac-A-Mole period of the campaign…when anybody sticks their head up, do them out.” How’s that “whac-a-mole” working out for McConnell so far? Not so much.

McConnell still seems to think he’s the inevitable, entitled owner of the Kentucky Senate seat he’s had since 1985. Indeed, the Republican strategy of selling discontent with D.C. might finally be splashing their party with the dumb mud, as ABC reported,“Anti-Incumbent Sentiment Has Reached 25-Year High.” This explains why the Kentucky Senator has also been pitching himself as the candidate of “change”, which is a really bizarre attempt to make himself the Kentucky Obama.
McConnell for “change”, but without the actual change. No policy changes, just more rhetoric while he gets even richer.

In spite of their rather startling misplays and the ineptness of their strategy, McConnell’s campaign seems to believe that this is in the bag, and no doubt the millions pledged from outside money give McConnell a sense of confidence. But that confidence may be misplaced. Republicans tried to buy 2012, and the only place they managed to win elections were places they had gerrymandered, but even so, they lost House votes. Money can buy you a lot of lies and attack ads, but it can’t buy you love.

And while many are fooled by attack ads, sometimes they backfire. Note the boomerang effect that some GOP suffered in 2012, thanks to SuperPAC attack ads whose messages they couldn’t control as well as they might have liked. The bottom line is that Republicans like Mitch McConnell and Mitt Romney really do think money can buy them anything. While they excel at the dirty ugly, they seem not to realize that the Internet can factcheck them in real time.

CONtinued:

So when Mitch McConnell unloads his millions of outside dollars onto Alison Grimes, and attacks her like he was planning to attack Ashley Judd, the Internet will be there to factcheck Mitch. McConnell and his team seem desperate to cast Alison Grimes as Obama, but even Obama polls higher than McConnell in Kentucky right now. And in this scenario, Mitch is the Mitt, and Mitt lost. Sure, it’s Kentucky, but Grimes is a pragmatic centrist.

Mitch McConnell and his team better man up, because so far they’ve been playing a rather inept game of dirty pool sans any ideas or positive themes. If McConnell plans to run on demonizing Alison Grimes, he’s in for a bit of a shock.

Mitch might want to wake up – it’s not the 1960s and he’s not the inevitable winner. He isn’t even a sure bet over his Tea Party challenger Matt Bevin right now.

Jon Stewart Trashes Fox News and Eric Bolling for Food Stamp Hypocrisy

Last week, Jon Stewart took Fox News Channel to task for their apparent fixation with food stamp recipients being able to purchase sea food with their benefits. The Five co-host Eric Bolling shot back at “dummy” Stewart for those remarks and criticized him for minimizing the problem of welfare fraud. On Thursday night, the feud continued as Stewart responded to Bolling’s “schooling.”

Stewart said it was “reasonable” for Fox to be exposing government waste, but that was not why he was making fun of the network.“What we were ridiculing was the way you exaggerate the scope of public assistance abuse through random, often unprovable anecdotes,” Stewart said.

Stewart hit Fox for creating the narrative that the poor are “just sh**ty people and those food stamps are just making them sh**tier.” He added that the network had found their “food stamp abuse bigfoot” in a surfer on welfare who has been featured on over six Fox programs. Stewart admitted that there is an estimated $3 billion in welfare fraud.

The Daily Show Host then skewered Bolling for supporting what the Fox host called a $4 billion “pittance” in government subsidies directed to oil producers.“What I have learned today from my ‘teacher’ is that $3 billion dollars of taxpayer money is greater than $4 billion dollars of taxpayer money,” Stewart said.

Stewart then played a series of clips of Fox hosts and contributors defending “job creators” who are also recipients of government subsidies.“So, what I’m getting from Fox is this,” Stewart concluded.“Exploiting government largess, while morally reprehensible and corrupting for an individual is a-ok for corporations.”

Love this one. OLD WHITE MEN refusing WOMEN's rights while protecting their right to have penis pumps and Viagra..hahahahahaha

Daily Show’s Samantha Bee Exposes Medicare’s $172 Million Penis Pump Problem

Last night, Samantha Bee taught The Daily Show viewers way more than they ever wanted to know about federally funded penis pumps. With Medicare spending $172 million on penis pumps over the last five years, Bee set out to find out why nobody seems to notice or care.

With conservatives complaining that Obamacare forces insurance companies to cover women’s health, why have they never had a problem with Medicare covering erectile dysfunction drugs, let alone penis pumps?“Women’s selfish desire for sexual health and gynecological exams pales in comparison to men’s need to deal with erectile dysfunction,” Bee explained.

She managed to find women to represent both sides of this debate, including sexual health expert Beatty Cohan, who gamely helped Bee when he got a penis pump attached to her face.

On the other side, NARAL president Ilyse Hogue told Bee,“Statistics show that probably some members of our congress have a vested interest in having penis pumps covered.”

The Most Dangerous Terrorists the United States Faces? Conservatives

The Republican party (and more specifically conservatives) are some of the most vile, hypocritical people in this country today.

These “southern conservatives,” throughout our American history, have stood for some of the most disgusting beliefs our nation has ever held.

And it’s a little ironic how most people will say something like Islamic radicals, when conservatives are often also driven by a warped delusion about their religion just like those Islamic radicals.

They defended slavery, opposed giving women the right to vote, opposed desegregation, interracial marriage, the Civil Rights Act and now they oppose equal rights for homosexuals.

People who claim to be “true patriots for a Constitutional America” are always on the wrong side of history. I’ve still never quite understood how seceding from the United States (as these southern states did) makes you a “patriot.” Well, that’s because it doesn’t – it makes you a terrorist.

Heck, it’s 2014 and still you get talk within these southern states of secession whenever they don’t get their way.

These people hate about half of all Americans (liberals), they even hate many of their “own kind”(R.I.N.O’s – Republican In Name Only).

The Republican party (the party they support) have held our economy hostage to undermine a president; nearly pushed our country to the point of default (for the first time in history); done everything they possibly could to sabotage a health care law (with several Republicans even admitting to it); shut down our government; cut food stamps for children living in poverty and now applaud the strength of a Russian dictator while attacking our very own president.

Exactly how are these people “Constitutional patriots”? Any time our Constitution protects rights for people they don’t believe should have them, they have no problem doing everything they can to violate those rights.

Whenever bad economic news comes out, they almost fall over themselves trying to bash the president. I never was a fan of George W. Bush, but I never openly rooted for his failure because I knew if he failed - we all failed. But that doesn’t stop conservatives from openly rooting for President Obama to fail.

When you look at our nation’s history, and its present, conservatives continue to be the most dangerous terrorist group we face.

So now, instead of focusing on how we can make this country better, we’re trying to convince millions of people that the overwhelming evidence that supports climate change is real and homosexuals deserve the same rights as every other American. That you don’t fix an economy by supporting economic policies which make rich people richer and poor people poorer.

But continually in this country we’re not left battling some Islamic group, some Russian power or some other evil international group out to destroy the United States – we’re stuck fighting conservatives who seem determined (and control one of the two largest political parties in this country) to ruin this nation.

Though you don’t have to believe me, you just have to look at our history. Slavery, denying a woman’s right to vote, segregation, bans on interracial marriage, opposition to civil rights – conservatives were the enemy in every one of those battles.

So, when someone poses the question to me,“Who’s the most dangerous terrorist group we face”? To me, it’s conservatives.

Because while Islamic terrorists might try to take us down, conservatives have been continuously trying to do it for over 150 years.
