They're going to do what they want to do. It doesn't matter what the people think or want, the police do whatever they want, that's the end of the story!!

It would be hilarious for someone to pull one of them over and make a citizens arrest for careless driving.

And as funny as that is, a person actually could do that and the law would support them doing so.

I cannot believe the ignorance of most of the people who have posted here. Don't you even think they might be speeding with the lights off to catch other speeders????? DUUUHHHHHH

And how do you know they are not on a call? Sometimes they will not use lights or sirens to be undetected. Most likely they were going to work or on their way home. Troopers often work a good distance away from their home. One post will cover several counties.
So on way home from work gives them the right to drive like an a$$ I don't think so. At that time they are off duty and need to drive like we do. When they start driving like an A$$ they need to beable to get tickets also to bad some other good cops don't pull them over and give the cop a ticket. They all stand up together. Can't trust them!!!

Kind of funny I read this A few ago I did that in my pu truck was coming home from work late at night car kepting racing up on my tail and backing off and do it again. I got tired of slammed on my bracks and saw a cop car going side ways beside me LOL I laughed my A$$ off and I watched him as he pulled into a parking lot as we started going down the road.... He got of my tail he stopped to clean his pants :) I'll do it again and again stay off my tail cop. Got a nice hitch they can hit :)

I was driving at night on I-75, passing a car when a car came up behind me and rode my bumper, when I sped up to go around the car I was passing, BLUE lights came on, they pulled me over and I got a speeding ticket.

Police Officers write "speeding tickets"! Don't worry it is normal, and it generally happens when you are speeding.

When I was younger this happened to me. I was only driving 65 and he got behind me and tailgated me. Then, after I sped up 75 so I could get over, I got pulled over for speeding. The cool thing though is that he never turned it in. I never had to pay it.

If a cop goes speed limit, and most other traffic drives around 5 over, would you pass them? No. If cops don't drive a little over speed limit, especially in high traffic areas, traffic will get backed up because no one is going to pass them.
They should OBEY the law like we do...they do it because they can and theres nothing we can do about it....i go home from work everyday and they fly by me and no their not on a call ...its the came one same time..getting off work going home....the authority has went to their head and it will always be that way...its just like our country its no longer ours its the foriengers now...we have no rights...we are just a number in this world..so now just go to work try to make your living the best you can and do what the law and government tells us to do... because our opinion dosent matter...

One got me on I75 South right before the Rockcastle river. I was running 81 and he still ticketed me, even as the big dogs (truckers) were blowing past us, running 80-85 mph.
Didn't give him an attitude, was polite, still got a nice late Christmas gift in a 160 dollar citation.
In a situation like this, it's good to know people or have connections.
NOT ABOVE THE LAW

Gray, KY

They are not above the law when not on call. That is why they and the state, city or county they work for can be sued when an officer is involved in an accident that is found to be their fault by reason of neglgence. Already proven in courts.

Yes maybe some police officers think they are above the law and some can have attitude but everyone seems to forget that they are the first ones we call on when their is trouble and they have to deal and see more stuff then most of you cry babies ever will. They put their lives on the line everyday they leave their homes and families and most probably never here a simple thank you when they have kept someone from beating you up or pulling someone out from a wreck, and so on. I agree they shouldn't be speeding if off duty or if it's not an emergency. So many people want to pick the heck out of them but where would your ass be if you needed someone to help you or a loved one from being harmed.

The police take weeks of extensive training and they see and deal with more stuff that most of us will never have to. Do you think it's easy to see people who have killed themselves, or been in a horrible accident and their body parts everywhere. You have to go tell a family their loved one is dead. How about someone shooting at you or you see a child being harmed. Do you think it's easy being a police officer? Before complaining so much why don't you put yourself out their with all the ones messed up on drugs and people beating up on each other and all kinds of stuff. And their pay is crap for what they have to do for the public. And then the few that get on here to bash them would probably be the first ones to call on them in an emergency for yourself or love one.
