Tax payer opinion

Well just read the front page of local news paper and seen where the an employee here was suppose to move to laurel county no later than 9 month per the contract. It has been around 17 months and still not living here. If it was any other employee they would be held accountable. What I fine best about this is they keep increasing school-property taxes and if you don't live here well they are not paying them.....lol. Employees get no raises here and you increase taxes. You may start with cutting some of the big salary and benifits package some people get on the tax payer or atleast have the people that increase the live here. This is just my opinion and could have done without reading that today because these tax increases in this system is a joke but guess it's all who you are weather you go by the rules or pay the tax increase$. Just another slap in the face. This system has it's problems. Have a nice day!!

"Whether" is the least of your problems. We can only hope that you are not a teacher of any kind...

Where did you learn how to be a Socialist? Which extravagant salaries did you want to cut so that YOUR salary can be increased. Please be specific so everyone knows who is ripping off the school system...

Maybe you should read the post again. Unless I missed something I believe the poster explained the employee was supposed to be a resident of Laurel county but is not a resident.

How does that evolve into "cut their extravagant salaries" so I can get paid more?

This is a contract issue that is NO ONE'S business except for the parties to the contract. I think it's incredibly petty that employees of the School System want to jump on this issue just to discredit this person.

Laurel Patriot pays BIG taxes in Laurel County, and I'm trying to be patient about the endless stream of school employees constantly whining about their paychecks. I'd feel better about it if one or two of them demonstrated the ability to pass an 8th Grade spelling and composition test.

If you hate your job here so much, go do something else somewhere else...

School employees don't have to discredit anyone that has already discredited themselves.
I'm not a teacher or an employee of the system but that doesn't mean I don't have an opinion and a lot of respect for school teachers. I think it's a shame that teachers haven't had a raise in years yet all this spending and property tax increases continue.

It's funny that he didn't move here and pay the increased taxes that they wanted in so bad! Contract issue was clear now if it would have been an employee, student, parent or tax payer that didn't hold to their word then they would be in trouble. Different set of rules for some! What else can go on in this system? Geeeee's

Agreed and well said I can think of 122,000 ways to low some school taxes and also move here and pay some tax increase. Thus is what's wrong here. Thanks to the ones that pay their taxes

The average teacher salary is about 43 grand whereas the average pay for the entire household in this area is about 30 grand. That means the teachers of this area are the 1 per centers.

School system does not even get competitive bids on construction anymore. The just accept bids and give away money on school projects. Sad to think the leaders are not more concerned about spending tax dollars. As taxpayers we deserve to know why bids are awarded with little or no competition.

don't doubt it one bit after seeing what the super did took the job and didn't move here. Wanted taxes raised because he don't pay them! The board had to know he didn't keep his word with the contract. Lead by example! Nothing in the laurel county school system surprises us any more! It's not about the kids it's about your money

how fortunate mismanagement of tax dollars is not a factor in your life. I don't mind paying for the education of Laurel Co. children, but I want the money to be used wisely. All of the Laurel Co. tax dollars should be used wisely. Sorry this is not important in your life, but most people in Laurel Co. do have to spend their money wisely so should our leaders in the school system and county offices.Enjoy your day and be happy you do not money concerns.

Some say, in a perfect world, not one would mind paying,(if u kant spel thanck a govmeant teechur).

1890 Andrew Carnegie writes a series of eleven essays called “The Gospel of Wealth”, a treatise which essentially stated that free enterprise and capitalism no longer existed in the United States, because he and Rockefeller owned everything, including the government, and that competition was impossible unless they allowed it. Eventually, says Carnegie, the young children will become aware of this and form clandestine organizations to fight against it. Carnegie proposes that men of wealth form a synthetic free enterprise system based on cradle-to-grave schooling. The people who advanced through schooling would be given licenses to lead profitable lives. All licenses are tied to forms of schooling. This way, the entire economy can be controlled and people have a motivation for them to learn what you want them to learn. It also places the minds of all children in the hands of a few social engineers.(German System).

Some say, a little research will shed blinding light that may dazzle.

1904 John D. Rockefeller issues “Occasional Letter No.1? detailing plans to mold the people, reduce national intelligence to the lowest common denominator, destroy parental influence, traditional and customs, and eliminate science and real learning,“in order to perfect human nature”.

Some say, no amount of political rhetoric can change the fact that high taxes hurt us all.
