To the woman walking through the Chicken Festival, breastfeeding her child in its carrier....I commend you. You go girl! Do what's best for your baby. Too bad more people aren't like that.

In all honesty, when I read the title of this post I expected to see a post condemning breastfeeding in public. I am pleased to see your post. It gives me the sense that people are finally understanding that breasts are meant for feeding our young and that there is no shame in it. Thank you for posting something so positive. Hopefully there are more people like you and that woman who put her child first against stigma, out there.

People that don't think of breasts as perverted shouldn't have a problem with breastfeeding.

Truth of the matter is, our Government created shame in breast feeding and instilled it in media many years ago.
They wanted to bleed more money from people, because they knew from research that women who breast fed their babies, were least likely to have cancers. The more breast cancers and other diseases we have,(created by Government) is more money for them to stick in their pocket.

More than one person in Science/Health has found cures for many cancers that our Government did not allow to pass through. http://www.fromthetrenchesworldreport.com/the...

I don't have a problem with breast feeding women, but I do find it disturbing in public because not everyone at the chicken festival or in public is going to think "aw, how natural!" "You go girl!" "Put that baby first!" There is what you call perverts who are everywhere that is getting them a show out of who ever this woman was. That is if her boobs where showing. For her safety from these perverts, put your child first and cover up! You are only putting ideas into these creeps heads that watched you breast feed your child. In this day and age, you never know what could happen! Be safe and breast feed your baby in a safe environment and if you're comfortable breast feeding in front of people then breast feed in front of people that you know isn't going to harm you or your baby. It's unfortunate that it's that way, but people are f*cking sick in the head! I have heard of way too many horrifying stories that started with what you are doing. That doesn't mean anything horrible might happen, but don't ever think it cant!

It wasn't the government. It was churches which created shame in breast feeding and instilled it in not only the media but in society in general. They instilled in people the idea that the body was something sinful and must be hidden away.

and whoooo told the church that? their governments.
everything gets blamed on the church.
there are people in church. and people are people.
if you are told something long enough you are likely to bleve it.
such as the white nations teaching us we are supposed to kill our baby before its born.
they try to make us believe we cant afford this baby.
and they started out making women beleve we needed jobs to survive. satan separating families started long ago.
wanting this and that and wanting everything you see is not really needs.
go ahead and breast feed your baby. and cover it up.

Most breastfeeding mothers are always discreet about it. When out and about, most people can't even tell that the baby is nursing, unless they've been there and done that themselves. Don't get me wrong, there are always attention seekers who will try to walk around exposed, but 9 out of 10 nursing mothers, you will never even notice because she is so discreet about it.

Go ahead baby and let that baby suckle, I wouldn't cover those ta-tas up because all the weirdos won't get to drool. And then, there are all those mothers that wouldn't have the opportunity to explain the boob display. I do hope she had a rose or something on her boobies and not just plain boobies. Question? How did she keep them from flopping up and down and depriving her wee one of a healthy meal? Maybe the little one had a firm grip on the booby. I don't think that wee one deserved a quiet peacefully place to nurse where filthy sweaty people weren't breathing down on it. I wonder if it was a bonding time for mother and child or a opportunity for mamma to bond with the public.

Having actually met real Hillbillies they are very friendly and well meaning. That it is used as an insult really mystifies me as these people have treated me far better than any person living in a big city.
I met them when traveling through Arkansas from Illinois with my father when I was a lot younger. I don't see why people hate them so much.
Then I'm talking about uncivil hillbillies just like uncivil yuppies.

I agree that the majority of moms would nurse indiscretly, but you have that 1 or 2 that would flaunt it in public just for the attention and crowd spectacle. It is those few that have ruined it for the rest of the responsible mothers. Also add to it the weirdos that are walking around out here in crowds of people just so they can get free feels, they would have a hayday seeing a woman nursing and could possibly put them over the top on what they may try next. I would certainly discourage any lady from nursing in public, just because of the safety factor, you are endangering your life as well as the life of your baby and family. Would it really be worth it ? I don't think so.

There have been several comments made about the safety of breastfeeding in public. I have never heard of anyone being sexually harassed while feeding their child. I do not know where you all are getting this.

Yes, there are sexual deviants out there and you never know what gets them going, maybe the color of your shirt or the size of your shoes. Who knows? But free feels? Really?

Also, breastfeeding your child in public is no more unsanitary than bottle feeding or allowing them to anything at the CF.

A nursing/changing station is a great idea! Some businesses that cater to moms and kids should think about sponsoring one!
