Corbin is a much more progressive town. Unless you are a member of some religious cult, you won't like London's ultra conservative atmosphere.

London is great unless: you need a good job to sustain a life style; you have kids; you enjoy good restaurants and entertainment venues. Sadly London has few good paying jobs, schools are not great and there is nothing for kids to do. Moreover, our restaurants are average at best and there is little to do. We raised three kids and all of them located elsewhere upon completing college. Very few of their friends are still in London. Unless, a kid can and wants to go into the family business or is in the medical field there virtually no jobs here.

London is a great little town, and yes jobs are there. It is just single parents should fight for good child care. This is a problem where no unions participate here. so yes the long hours are not easy, but the dems did try to pass legislation offered to help low income workers receive grants for safe child care. search into this, help is there. Keep fighting for safe healthcare for women who must, or dad's who raise kids and want safe healthcare paid a percentage of. This is just another civil rights argument for single parent who care who they leave the child with. This bill should be passed, soon. Then women or single men can feel safer about leaving children at home, with qualified and certified child care, we need to leave out children while at work with intelligent care takers. Single parents are the main family unit now, which is sad I know, but these families deserve help on paying this safe and and professional care if they are trying. Good for kids and parents to know they can leave the kids with those who are certified health care , the monies are there, just demand it. Write you Congress about this, those who do not want it, only because if they are too well off to work, or just self-centered rich. Sometimes, not all cases kids need to be given to outside family to succeed and will thank you later. Most grandparents and adult parents can deal and get visitation. Just go by the rule you will be able to know your child also if you feel that is best, the greatest give of love is sometimes realized a much better life they can require from someone else. Make sure these families agree to this before signing anything. They will understand when they are older, and understand you made this sacrifice out of love and hope for the child, but do not let you remain out of their lives totally or you the adoptive parents will be let know when the teen will search for biotic parent later

unions cure all those woes?

Why are unions at about 17% the members of the 70s? More people working? Are you a union stooge?

London is a great place to live if you are older, have your living made and love to play golf or fish. Having grown up here, I like the area, but understand why many people would not want to move here and our young people leave. There are very few good job opportunities for young people and the pay scale is low. Years ago my sister married and moved to a nice town that was about the size of London near Hunnington WV. I visited her last summer and was amazed at the growth in the area. The town has nearly doubled in size in the last few years. Upon checking I found their median family income is twice that of Laurel County, yet housing and living cost are comparable. My sister teaches and she said high school graduates can find jobs starting at 18 to 20 dollars an hour. Its no wonder the area is growing. If we are going to keep our kids in this area and prosper jobs must be created. And I don't mean restaurant jobs paying little.
