I just recently got saved in a pentecostal church, really haven't had any religous background, now the sisters in the church are telling me to take my pants to goodwill, and start wearing long blue jean skirts, one of the sisters even said she would make me some skirts out of mens blue jeans! I just don't understand, if we are not suposed to wear men's apparel, then should we not wear a skirts made from a mans pants? This is all so confusing to me, and I did ask one of the sisters to explain, and she told me, the Lord would tell me eventually.
Do I have to do this to be saved?? And what does the men do to look sanctified? You cant tell a pentecostal man...from a Baptist, or Methodist, I just don't feel in my heart I have to do this, is someone gonna get saved because I have one a skirt that weighs 50lbs, or will they get saved because they see Christ in me, and I TELL them about Jesus, and show them the word of God. I really feel the whole skirt thing is.." Look at how holy I am", when as soon as they open their mouth, they are trashing someone, or telling a lie, I have seen this, and them wearing a skirt, hides a multitude of sin, I was driving by that adult store in London, and saw 2 women in blue-jean skirts walking in there, I could not beleive it!!! Is there not porn everywhere you look in there? and naked bodies? Im beginning to wonder about this whole "religous" thing.

Dear Wondering,
I really think that you need to explore other religions that are availiable to you. Not all make you wear denim skirts or grow your hair, that is rather cultish and you don't have to follow that. Try going to a Baptist or Methodist Church they are very open to new patrons. I think you may like it much better.

yes most pentecostal women do have that kind of attitude, but some also do not. alot of pentecostal churches do not think that you have to wear skirts and not to cut your hair. there are many pentecostal churches out there they believe the truth but are not so conservative as the holliness. do what the lord is telling you to. he will show you what is right and wrong. just do not get brainwashed as so many church people do thinking you have to dress or wear your hair a certain way.

It says in the bible that a woman shouldn't wear anything pertaining to men, and I've always thought that just meant not wearing men's clothing.

As a baptist, I have to say I don't think God cares what you wear as long as it is not indecent. It is not about clothing.

I would advise avoiding all of these senseless cults. Listen to your intuition and have a little common sense. These are all brainwashing and mind control tactics. Google David Koresh , Jim Jones, and watch GOTH commercials on local TV to see what damage cults can unleash upon society.

I agree with everyone else... and I personally think that the bible is not saying to wear skirts, but rather dress respectful. I would say that wearing "hottie" across your bottom is not going to send a good message, nor is wearing a shirt that draws attention to budging cleavage. Many of the churches the think that you should not wear pants also think that you should not wear makeup. Personally I think that make up is very girly.

I was raised in a Baptist church. My pastor never pushed religion. I recall on several occasions (like at revivals) him saying that being Baptist is not going to send anyone to Heaven... it's your personal relationship with the God and only God. Putting money in the offering is not going to send you to heaven either. The bible says to give 10% of yourself to God... if you are able to give money, then thank you, but witnessing and spreading the word is giving of yourself and is better than money. If you have two hours free time, then spend 10 minutes praying for someone.

Also I believe that prayer should be done in private. I'm not saying that praying at church is no count, but the bible says go to a quiet corner and pray. I think that praying out loud in front of a bunch of people is showing off and not always sincere. I do not believe in talking in tongue.

But all this is just my personal opinion. I am not saying that I go to church every Sunday, because I don't. I also don't proclaim to be a perfect Christian (there is no such thing). I just wanted to give my thoughts on this subject.

Wearing pants is not going to send you to hell.

It never ceases to amaze me the number of religious zealots and Jesus freaks that sit in the pews on "Sin"day morning and troll topix as gossip wh*res the rest of the week. Would your pastor be pleased? Well, he probably trolls the porn sites late at night after the wifey goes to bed. The hypocrisy in the area is incredible. Bottomline, if you are sincere in your Christian faith , you should not be trolling a vulgar, negative, gossip site. Shame on you psedo-Christians!

Just Wondering, I think you should maybe go talk to the pastor of that churh and get in your Bible and READ, READ, READ, and pray!! If you are really sincere in living for God, and making it to heaven he will definitely open your eyes!!

u better hit ypur knees and ask for forgiveness and insight on this topic. U r truly being deceived if u think Jesus does not exist. Not to mention, giving Satan what he wants and battling some major demons. Please, with all due respect, if u truly don't believe in God, don't even read or respond to a thread like this. I realize everyones entitled to their own opinion, but I believe those words should ever be spoken or written.

Organized religion is based on superstition and myth. Most of what Christians hold dear have pagan origins and similar versions of Biblical "stories" can be seen in many Eastern religions. You are being deceived. I will do my best to see that your children are not deceived.

You seem to have a repsonse to almost every topic on this site, from religion to football to the city itself. Do you seriously have nothing better to do? If you really are a CHS teacher (which I doubt), should you not be teaching or doing something more constructive than posting on Topix?

The Bible says "dress fit" I don't think there is anything wrong with a woman wearing pants if they are decent fitting. My husband has been a Pastor for over 25 years. We don't have a problem with women wearing pants.

Yeh, I know alot. They are cruel and mean, and will judge you. I call them pharisee. It is not what is on the outside of a person, but on the inside. When that passage was written, men wore gowns.

Larry, pull up your suspenders. Football or the city, I could care less and never post. Religion and it's fakery and deceit, yes I am interested. Got news for you too, I am not the only teacher at the school who believe in inspiring students to appreciate and believe science and fact , instead of myth and superstition.

I have been a christian since I was 7, my father was a pastor of a pentecostal church, and now my husband is a pastor, In my many years of the "pentecostal" movement, I have seen alot of women, get up in the service, and shout and dance, WITH a blue jean skirt on, and be as vulgar as a woman in a tight pair of jeans, with their blouses too tight, and very little support of their body parts. I really like what just wondering said about the men?? where is their dressly sacrifice? you seen them out in their brand name attire, sunglasses, boots, who knows the difference, I beleive, nobody is going to fall to the floor and give their heart to God, because I am wearing a blue jean skirt...but if I show them GODLY, Christ like love, and share the true word of God with them, then I certainally think I might have a chance winning their soul.I really feel it is more of an broadcast of "look" how holy I am, C'mon people, decent is the key word here, and I have seen alot of blue jean skirts that is not decent, too tight, and a split up the leg, No blue jean skirt ever died on the cross for me
