Darrell Simmons was my neighbor and dear friend when I lived in Jersey City from 1997-2001. I love him like a brother, and I will remain forever saddened by his untimely death. My son, who has never met or seen Darrell, knows his "Uncle Darrell". We all will miss Darrell dearly.

We will miss his humor, laughter, and warmth. Life has changed for all who knew Darrell. Sadness and disbelief is so present this week.

I met Darrell one time in March of this year, and from that one meeting, he left a lasting impression on my heart. I will always remember his quick wit, humor, sarcasrm, kindness and the way that he connected with those around him. Peace and love to his family and all of those who knew him and loved him.

I'm just learning about Darrell's death. I'm shocked and in total disbelief that he's gone. He was a caring, loving human being that did not deserve to die this way. My heart feels pain and will always remember Darrell for his goodness to me and my family, REST IN PEACE MAN!

I am in total disbelief! I just found out about this and I can't believe it. Darrell was my good friend. I've been emailing him and I thought something was weird because he never answered back. If you know Darrell, it was not like him not to return phone calls and emails. I will miss you my dear friend. I love you!

We found out a week after his passing and were also shocked by the news. We were neighbors for 8 years and we moved 2 years ago just a block away. I hadn't seen him in over 6 months knowing that we were living so close but no one ever expects something like this. He was such a happy, funny, rambunctious,fun-loving kind of guy who has dealt with quite a bit of tragedy within his own family as of late but always held strong. He will be sorely missed and already is. Our condolences go out to his family...
