These old mining communities are very fortunate to have someone take an interest in purchasing properties that the owners couldn't afford to keep or maintain..Without this investor interest the structures would have eventually been abandoned and crumbled leaving even worse blight. It is not in the new owner's best interests to let the properties degenerate and are only in process of being brought back to acceptable condition. Lots of people resent GlennWilt because he is doing something that they wish they'd done first. It's called sour grapes...

Mr. Cook you really don’t know Glen Wilt. He has purchased properties and is not renovating them. He is unwilling to put any money into the buildings and has had several buildings damaged due to his lack of maintenance. His views are simple, purchase property and sit on it until he can make a profit. There is no such thing as investing in a community because he has not. The only thing he has done is preventing someone who would like to purchase property and renovate it from doing so. You should view all the towns that Mr. Wilt has damaged due to his views.

My husband and I were enterested in purchasing the Old Movie Theater to restore it several years ago. I called Glen Wilt and spoke to his assistant. They had no interest in selling the property nor did he have any interest in upkeeping it. It's only a matter of time before Glen Wilt finally owns up to his terrible business practices that are affecting historic buildings.

Take a look at this website below:

Ken,
you are WAY off the mark here. What Wilt has done is buy up properties and then do nothing at all with them. When purchased by Wilt, these historic buildings had roofs and floors, and were structurally restorable. Due to Wilt's neglect and prohibition of others purchasing these same properties from him, the roofs have collapsed, the floors have caved in, and many of these once-salvagable buildings are now beyond repair, and so must be condemned and torn down. It is not sour grapes, as you state. It is, rather, the frustration that we citizens of Superior, AZ, share over having an outside "investor" buy up all the historic property, and then allow this property to crumble before our very eyes. Unless you live here, then you really cannot offer an informed opinion.
