There used to be a "head shop" on that road which runs parallel to I think College Ave. but a few blocks towards Texas St. This was between 1969-73.

I am a Christian gentleman. Tried, tested, & true. However, having grown up in the 70's I saw quite a lot of the movement in that era.

Smoking pot is way less harmful than drinking.

Numerous people die each year due to alcohol overdose. Nobody has ever died from an overdose of marijuana. It is not toxic enough, it cannot kill. It actually has many potential beneficial uses for mankind.

Marijuana, unlike alcohol, is almost never the cause of aggression or violence. Marijuana is no more addictive than coffee, which is why neither marijuana users nor coffee drinkers steal to support their use. In fact, virtually all of the crime associated with marijuana is a direct result of prohibition. Prohibition keeps responsible, regulated businesses out of the market and gives criminals and gangs an exclusive franchise. Because illegal businesses have no legitimate means to settle disputes, violence inevitably erupts, just as it did during the prohibition of alcohol in the 1920's.

I smoked pot after Vietnam. All it made me feel like doing was watch TV, Movies, listen to music, eat like crazy. I was too scared and actually had not motivation to go out in my car or with anyone else in their car. Never did either.

When I got drunk. I'd squeel the tires, speed, act like a fool, do things I should not have done. Got rowdy, acted nuts.

That's the difference.

Alcohol tends to make people boiserous. How many fights can you think of that are associated with alcohol. Watch COPS and most calls are alcohol related.

Just for the record. I've not had any drugs nor alcohol since 1983.

Thanks for the responses. I tend to agree with some of it, but disagree with most. I'll have to do some reading on that LEAP site. Are you open for continued discussion on this?

Sure. My Dad used to own two stores in Natchitoches before Wal-Mart came along. Ben Franklin was the Franchise name. There was on on Front Street and one in the shopping center just across the Cane River.

I went to NSU, dated some extremely beautiful girls there. Worked for Campus Security, one of the Professors where my job was going atop the Arts & Sciences Bldg and retrieve weather data from this station we had up there.

Natchitoches has changed so much since then. I was at the concert when Jim Croce's plane went down.

Lived in College Manor, Trudeau Apts., Cele Cook [I believe she's passed now] rented us a huge house out in Tall Pines Trailer Park.

We had a blast. Natchitoches will always be special to me. Just seems like it's changed.

Weed is less dangerous than alcohol. How many times have you heard of someone going for "marijuana treatment"?

For those interest, Students for Sensible Drug Reformation is starting a chapter on campus. Hopefully, to partner with an organization like NORML to have a footprint in the community. Anyone who believes marijuana should be chraged the same as herion is a fool.

FWIW, Holland has banned all tobacco use, yet weed is still going strong.

The Drug War is the biggest waste of time ever. Even former DEA and CIA agents have quit and come out stating that the USA sponsors some forms of cartels.

yes i also think cannabis is less addictive/harmful than alcohol and cigeretts.

1. Marijuana is far less addictive than alcohol.

Dependence: How difficult it is for the user to quit, the relapse rate, the percentage of people who eventually become dependent, the rating users give their own need for the substance and the degree to which the substance will be used in the face of evidence that it causes harm.

Withdrawal: Presence and severity of characteristic withdrawal symptoms.

Tolerance: How much of the substance is needed to satisfy increasing cravings for it, and the level of stable need that is eventually reached.

Reinforcement: A measure of the substance's ability, in human and animal tests, to get users to take it again and again, and in preference to other substances.

Intoxication: Though not usually counted as a measure of addiction in itself, the level of intoxication is associated with addiction and increases the personal and social damage a substance may do.

Jilted, listen to socrateez and LEAP. They are very knowledgeable and won't steer you wrong. I've learned loads from them both, plus I do my own research, meaning, I read. Learn all you can and then make an informed decision. Did you know Henry Ford made his car out of hemp? Hemp is the non psy-active cousin of pot. Did you know tincture of Cannabis was used for medicine in our not too distant past? Just a little link for you. http://antiquecannabisbook.com/chap1/History....
Enjoy your research, you'll be amazed...

Smith1, if you say weed is harmful then you have to say something that supports your claim, as it goes against all evidence that there is.

I saw this video this weekend about what they are trying to do in Fayettville Arkansas. They make some very good points about how much the prohibition is costing us. Check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch...

With everything that has gone on recently with taxes, police jury and the discussion of the cost of housing prisioners something like this could get a foothold here. Why should we be paying so much to house "criminals" when the only thing they have done wrong is being caught with a joint or two??

Daily Horoscope for November 14

Virgo

As much as you would like to tell a certain someone off today, it's wiser to bite your tongue. E-mail can come back to haunt you; we all know stories of someone who accidentally sent the wrong memo out to the entire office. If you really must vent, wait until you get home and then tell your partner your woes. Go for a long walk first to get the edge off.
