My condolences to the family. I just felt sad reading of such a tragic lost. Now I can understand why my wife doesn't want me taking any of our kids with me for a ride on my Harley.

Kids under 13 can't ride in the back of a truck, but a 7 year old child can ride on the back of a motorcycle?

Once again a car driver is at fault in killing a motorcyclist by arrogantly turning in front of him.

How sad - father and son killed because of a driver's stupidity. They say the good die young and apparently Mr Reimer was a really good person. My heart and condolences go out to this family. May God shelter and keep you all in these trying times.

Hawaii should have laws like Japan where you pay what the person's life potential earnings would be. Real consequence for your actions.

all our prayers go out to this family and once again we as parents have to remember that we have to keep our children safe and a seven year old child isn't old enough to be riding on the main highways and roads even as a passenger. god gives children parents to teach them and protect them .

Excellent point. Go figure. Must be a loophole in the law.

Thomas Reimer had an amazing bond with his son and every weekend they were together. He was a really giving and caring person, a good friend and a good dad. Big heart. My wife and I babysat his kids and our children were more like cousins then friends. Thomas Jr. was so full of life and smarts. He had a great smile. His daughter Victoria is also precious. We love them and miss them deeply. May God watch over them and all the Family.
Love your Friend and Brother on the level.

Pahoa Highway (Highway 130) is a very dangerous highway. With residential driveways exiting the highway itself, the speed limit there is still 55-mph. Also Pahoa highway has the most absurd right of ways. If that motorcyclist was turning right onto Ainaloa while the Mazda driver was turning left from the opposite direction, the Mazda would have had the right of way, not the cyclist turning right. Its that way along the entire Pahoa Highway corridor. It would be interesting to note where Reimer lived. If on Ainaloa, and he was in the right turn lane, the Mazda had the right of way. The traffic patterns on Pahoa Highway need to be changed to reflect the standard methods of rights of way. I've seen too many lives lost on this stretch of highway because of this crazy yielding vehicular traffic.

What point? Would it have mattered if he was older?
