I am sooo upset with this! This just shows that these kids need help. What kind of environment were these kids raised around?... It's also influence from friends and peer pressure. I think another big problem is that these kids don't have anything to do on the Big Island. There are not a lot of places for these kids to go except the mall...and even the mall is not enough to keep them busy. What are the parents or families of these kids doing about it? Do they not sense what their kids are up to. What have they taught them as they grew up?....

Thanks Kimo, for having some aloha and some common sense. David you should probably get an education and stop giving hawaiians a bad name. I am haole and respect "your" culture (probably filipino claiming he's hawaiian), but if you like act up. I am the one haole that will scrap anytime you like. So shut your stupid map. Ass.

this is what happens when the MMA Industries like introduce Big Island to these type of Sports. kids here and yes I'm a B.I.G Big Island Grown Native, this is what happens when they think that life is all about scrapping and nothing else. when you introduce something like Pro-Fighting to a very small speck in the mile of the ocean, you better expect this type of outcomes to occur....

Geeez! I just graduated from Keaau High School. Now I am attending college on the mainland. The high school fights in Keaau/Puna is waaay mellow compared to New York, California, Oregon, and other states. That fight is nothing compared to mainland fights! A lot of times, crazy people or kids pull out guns and knifes. Therefore, many people get injuried and killed ...than that pity fight.

there is a lot i could say about keaau high ... But lets stick to the sub.. my child and his friend was going to class when the hero's(football players) of the school hit him from behind... now all this on camera my son and his friend gets slap with suspension of two weeks and those boys got to come back after one... when ask y there answer was lets not worry....and your child hit back ...WHAT.. They have a security there calls my son out on more then one occasion with staff members seeing this ..Had a meeting with V.P. her reason for the securitys behaver is my child has an attitude...so that warrents him to say excuse my words i will broke ur fing ass fing punk learn how to fight you got the pic right...and to the person who ask the question what r the parents doing you should be asking what is DOE doing...Its easy to blame the parent ....

For one, yes, the kids that were fighting probably seem stupid and ill-mannered judging from the fight. But really, not all of Keaau students are like this. Most of our football players are actually very sweet people, something just ticked them off that day. Things like, friends getting mugged or someone insulting/disrespecting another person, start the fights in Keaau. You should understand that people here take these things very seriously because in Hawaii, family is very strong word. Only the stupid ones are the ones who jump in just for the hell of it, or fight just to show off skills. And the big thing is that dramas make wonderful people turn into violent, aggressive... scrappers. It's not necessary to blame the families because MOST students don't feel comfortable talking to their parents about it. So knowing we can't rely on our parents, we choose to stand up for ourselves. Which is a scary thing for students who are at the age where their hormones are running wild before entering adulthood. Instead of blaming anyone for anything, blame dramas and the stupid people who fight just because its fun. And seriously, Keaau has a lot to offer other than putting someone in the hospital. Most students are smart, greatly inspired, and work hard in what they believe in. People don't know how good Keaau is because the press is only interested in the fights. I mean come on, the only good things I see about Keaau in the newspaper was the athletes and the "Little Black Dress" fashion show. KEAAU IS NOT A BAD SCHOOL! I'm very proud to have been a cougar. I just wish the public would see passed the fights and look at the good things other students are working hard for.
