Non LDS in Ogden

My family is possibly moving to the Ogden area for a job opportunity. We are not LDS, Mormon... I don't know much about the religion and I don't judge them for whatever they believe. My questions are how well will my children do socially in public school? I've read around that the Mormon children are not acceptable of other children. If this is true, are there private schools that aren't too expensive to avoid this problem? How about where to live? And are there activities for our children, like dance, cheer, gymnastics? I know I might sound dumb for asking but with what I have read I do have concerns. I currently live in the "bible belt" south, but it's not how it's perceived, so I'm hoping Utha isn't either :).

I am from Kentucky and have been here for 5 years. You shouldn't have a problem with Ogden, in my opinion, it is a bit more accepting than some of the more rural parts of Weber and Davis County. Your children will encounter some exclusion, it is truly a different world living in Utah but it isn't horrible. They have all the same sports and activities as what you're used to. My son is 2 and is in Montessori preschool at the moment. The public school system here is not great, I have never seen a state where the kids are out of school as much as they are here. We're looking at private school or continuing his Montessori education when he gets old enough. Good luck.:) I'm sure you all will be just fine.

Also, not that it is a big deal...Some of my family members converted. Since the LDS religion is so big there, it was sort of unavoidable. It usually happens when you find someone who is Mormon. If you want to date/marry, someone usually changes religions. It is a very stong faith. They are family people which is great!

Looking for a non mormon realtor in ogden ut. I've talked to a couple mormon realtors who want to have all my family history in order to list my house. They will then add all of it to the church geneology lists. Creepy.

David Try the franklin group. I bought my house a year ago with none of the problems you mentioned. My agent was Carla Williams. She was most accomadating when we wanted to look a t a listing on short notice. But all of the Franklin Group was extremly helpful with no indications of your problems mentioned.
