Neighbors Vow To Stop Martha

A group of Martha Stewart's Westchester County neighbors has moved a step closer to opposing her efforts to trademark the name of her tony hometown, Katonah.

I betcha if she did not have the stigma of having served time, there would not be the stink of her using the town's name.

If you use a town's name for your pizza parlor or anything else there is almost no stink made ever.

Pizza parlors don't usually want to trademark the towns name. She was not that well liked even before she went to prison.

I admire Martha, I think she is an American Icon.

I don't think what she may or may not have done warranted a prison sentence and probation. Connecticut Rep Amann may do more wrong just about everyday compared to Martha's possible one day mistake.

I built a small business over 2 decades and was current on 3 rental properties, two of which I fixed up from boarded up condition.

I was railroaded to prison, and told to leave the State or spend the rest of my life in prison. I was arrested and put in prison for resisting a mugger, a felon who jumped me and tried to rob me in my dark driveway.

Police, prosecutors, and judges preferred the 3 prostitutes, drug dealers, vandals, and common criminal parasites to a productive, taxpaying citizens that want ethical reform in the police, courts, and in the legislature.

It is easier to run the Mavericks out of the State than to have ethical reform in Connecticut.

My point was, people that liked Martha before she went to prison still like her and people that disliked her still dislike her. As far as wanting to trademark the towns name, say a store in town has a product named the 'Katonah' are they going to be forced to change the name of their product or be sued because Marthas company now owns the name of their town?

Since Martha got released from that Place she's been keeping a very low profile, careful not to step on any toes, incite the wrath of billionaire real estate titans, or engage in the art of stock-picking after tete a tetes with her stock broker friends. This is very, very astute of Martha.
But she's been cooking. And baking, and creating paints and making sheets and pans and raising horses in Upstate New York horse country where she purchased her newest macmansion in a hamlet reportedly hidden by wrap around high brick fences. I just love those types of homes! Hers is a magical Neverland as she tries her damndest to put distance between her orange past while restoring Martha Stewart OmniMedia to its place of prominence amongst her peers (and get her arse back on the Forbes list of billionaires too, to bout.)
I like Martha. But see, Martha's outdone herself according to some folks up where she lives in horse country, in a place called Katonah. Katonah is apparently the name of the Indian Chief for which the village is named. Martha wants the name for a line of home products and accessories she's spearheading, products that include paints, sheets, and yes, pans and pots. Martha doesn't care that she's the newest girl on the totem pole. She wants Katonah. Its hers. She wants it. All of it, heaped onto her homemade clay plate.
Martha's spokesperson points out that use of the names of places, such as "Philadelphia" as in "Philadelphia Creme cheese" is commonplace. The Village people feel that, notwithstanding the fact that other places are recognized trademarks, that they don't wish to be owned by Martha and they won't ask permission to use the name of their village in the future because Martha owns it and may sue them for infringement--especially not since they were there before her. One of the wiseguy villagers even wrote a song about the whole thing and plays it on YOUTUBE and is getting a lot of attention--she bangs! she bangs!
The villagers have enlisted the legal assistance of a major law firm which offered its services pro bono to fight the doyenne. All over the country, people are lining up to condemn Martha for doing what she does best which is, create and run multimilliondollar businesses which are predicated on her prescience, creativity and bottomless ability to come up with brilliant ideas. So sue her you jealous lice!
Hme....Hme....Hme....what do I think about this? god, I don't know. I'm just getting too old to analyze this crap and I'm sleepy. Here's my suggestion: Martha might consider moving to Alaska. And just trademark that. What's the big deal? Huh? Then, if anybody wants to use the name "ALASKA" they just have to go through Martha. And I know she will be generous and let them use it. Plus, it would put Alaska on the map. And people would start to care about the place. Alaska would be famous and Martha would be rich.
