I am relieved to see that our government is not going to waste more money on a waste coal plant that will become obsolete in 20 years as the advances of true green technologies like wind and solar emerge. As a long time resident of Karthaus, I have seen the devastation that big companies have done by ripping coal from the land and leaving scars behind. This plant was being pushed as a way to clean up the environment, which I could never understand since it would add more mercury and sulfur into the air while contaminating ground water with the large amounts of toxic ash that would need to be buried. As an avid fisherman nobody wants rivers like the Mosquito and Susquehanna cleaned up, but we all know that it is the seeping underground mines and not the bog piles that keep the fish out of our rivers. Yes, we need jobs in this part of the state, but we should look for ways to create jobs by using our natural resources in a way that doesn't destroy our land, such as bringing in visitors for elk viewing, fishing, scenic ATV tours, canoeing and camping.

I don't know a whole lot about this, but wasn't the company involved a little shady or something? Like they've started projects before elsewhere and never finished, or something to that effect?

I know I am sick of still hearing about "clean coal" when no one has implemented any clean-coal technology.

One: New coal power plants are much cleaner than even 10 or 15 year old plants, we simply don't have many of them around beacuse government officals usually shoot them down due to ignorance of the public that think that we should "just put a little more money into GREEN energy".

Two: The company in question is no more shady than any other energy company out there, better than many of them, and miles better than our government.

Yes,we are a shady organization that thrives on taking the citizens tax dollars to line our pockets and keep our other ventures in operation. We have taken millions of your dollars in the past only to shut down the projects after the free money you gave us all dries up.But look on the brightside, you guys have helped make a beautiful paved road to nowhere.I'd like for you to see it sometime but there is a gate across it and you are not aloud to drive on it.Sorry.Anyone have any other ideas we could waste some dollars on?

The road to nowhere...too bad it doesn't connect to the bridge to nowhere. What a waste of taxpayers money.
