Reading that sex predator Matthew Cargill got sentenced to a measly one year in jail made me vomit.

What do you mean by that? What freedoms and opportunities have we won lately? Please give some detail and not just jingoistic claptrap.

If you have trouble comprehending the concepts of freedom and opportunity in America, and you don't understand that both are inherently broad and limitless almost by definition, then I won't be able to explain. Since you're quick to label use of those terms as "jingoistic," then you're only confirming that you take both for granted... as well as the fact that if it weren't our strong military PRESERVING our right to freedom and opportunity as our nation grew (not "winning them lately"), freedom-loaders like you would likely have much less of both.

Again, specifically, what freedoms and opportunities have we won lately? Don't cop out. You're the one who said we have done this: "...the freedom and opportunity that is provided to them on the backs and blood of others."

You say "is provided", not "has been provided". If others' backs and blood are providing them (and I have no doubt that backs as well as blood are involved in many facets of the military), you should stand by your words and let us know what you really mean.

Surely there must be something specific you can mention of recent note that will help explain your earlier statement.

Or don't you know?

BTW, I have no trouble comprehending the concepts of freedom and opportunity, but you can't expect a concept to mean anything without being specific about it.

My use of the term "jingoistic" applies fairly to your earlier statement. Here's your chance to show my use of it is unwarranted. I'm not looking for more of the same claptrap as in your last post. You have said nothing further. Get some grit, man, and give details.

Sigh. You wanna play little, silly semantic games? Seriously, don't you have anything better to do? OK, try comprehending this, Mr. English major wannabe: "IS provided" refers to the ONGOING preservation (i.e., PRESENT tense) of freedom and opportunity in this country by our strong military... freedom and opportunity that was essentially set forth by our founding fathers when they established the principles which guide our nation. Once again (sigh), freedom and opportunity are inherently "limitless" in nature (within the defined legal, practical, etc. framework of our nation, obviously). YOU as a citizen get to choose how you want to exercise the "freedom and opportunity" that is provided to you. A strong military does not "win" a specific "new" freedom and a specific "new" opportunity for you to sit at your computer all day and make nonsensical semantic arguments, as you have always had the freedom of speech and the opportunity to freeload off of others from the day you were born or became a citizen of this nation. A strong military preserves that freedom and opportunity... as well as the freedom and opportunity to get up off your butt and do something productive to make this world a better place for a change, instead of just sitting all day at a computer complaining and making silly arguments.

Now, if you don't mind (or even if you do), I'm going to exercise MY freedom and opportunity to go surf, to run some errands, and then to put in some volunteer hours trying to help create change, rather than just frittering my precious time away engaged in meaningless arguments with someone who apparently has nothing better to do.

Well, enjoy your frivolous time surfing and going errands. You still can't give specific examples. Fine. I understand. Go do what you have to do, but you, too, should stop posting meaningless drivel about "blood" and "backs" so that you feel you can be morally superior.

Be superior while you surf. I'm sure that works well out there on the mighty, uncaring ocean.

I don't feel morally superior to anyone, but at this point, given your inability to comprehend the concepts of freedom and opportunity that are afforded to you as an American citizen, I am feeling intellectually superior to you, at least.

By the way, I did give you specific examples - maybe you also have difficulty with reading comprehension. But let me try helping you again. You see, Bullshot, both "freedom" and "opportunity" inherently encompass an infinite number of possibilities. Why do you need "specific" examples to help you understand? Sigh. Let's see - you have the freedom to go stand on a corner and suck an egg while holding a poster that says, "Obama is the AntiChrist." You have the opportunity to go from being a lonely, boring forum troll on welfare in a dingy Sand Island apartment to a billionaire getting acai berry facials in a platinum tub at your Soho penthouse condominium. Why? Because despite its problems, America is still the land of freedom and opportunity.

Oh, and surfing? For me it's recreation and exercise. Errands? An unfortunate necessity of everyday life for most of us, as far as I can tell.(I notice you didn't bring up my volunteer work, though.) If you feel those are "frivolous" activities, then good for you. I see you're up to 1,979 posts since September '08. Let's say for the sake of argument that each post reflects about 15 minutes of your time - reading other posts, writing your own. Busting out my trusty calculator, that means you've spent 29,685 minutes --> 495 hours of your life on these forums during that period... which works out to about 58 hours per month, roughly 15 hours per weeks, or around 2 HOURS A DAY!! On these frickin' forums!! Holy cow. Two hours a day, 7 days a week, sitting at your computer doing local news forums. Well, that explains a lot.

And you call my surfing and running necessary errands "frivolous"?? LOL. Please do yourself a favor, and even if you don't do something semi-productive, at least cut back on your forum time and get a life so that the rest of us can stop carrying shleps like you.

Okay, good. You've given some examples of what you think freedom and opportunity are. Now, since you are so good at it, why not show me how the backs and blood have managed to allow that -- lately.

If you can do that, I'll be satisfied. If you can't, don't bother with all the other meaningless stuff you post. Stay on topic or go surf.

Look!!! It's the idiot feather waver demanding that someone quantify the obvious for him again. Retort with you're usual puff-chest default? Maybe demand proof and cite examples that you wave feathers-lately?

Aren't you the guy that dodged my question about gun control?

Glad you've brought yourself into the public eye again. But you, too, are off topic.

Do you surf?

Didn't respond - Maybe, haven't thought about it.

Dodge - No, probably just turned to do something else and whatever you threw missed me, or maybe it didn't warrant an answer.

Gun Control - What about it? They should all be registered and there should be ownership criteria. Caught unregistered - do time. Crime with gun - do big time, mandatory, no liberal sob sentencing. No automatic.

Public eye - cyber eye, OK?

Surf - I have.
