Logan: He was a friend of mine. While I agree he was reckless, and it is awful that others were injured, he didn't "deserve" to die!

Well, at least this time the GUILTY (and in this case negligent, stupid, and mean) PARTY is the one who perished instead of some innocents. If only all traffic accidents had such a satisfactory outcome!

Sorry for the loss of your friend. He did something stupid by driving reclessly and paid a tragic price for his carelessness. Hopefully, there will be a lesson to all that driving recklessly will almost always result in tragic consequences. Nobody wins and everyone loses...

If this guy was a past convicted kleptonecropedopyrophiliac and his last act on Earth before succumbing to mortal wounds was saving a couple of elderly women and a crate of kittens from near death, his eulogy would be that of a "hero".

However, the fact and reality is his life's finale winded up as a moronic result of his stupid lack of judgement. His toe will be labelled with "idiot", and many drivers will sigh in relief that his death makes the roads a little safer.

if these comments are indicative of the hawaiian mentality, then thank god i've never been there and have never met any of you pathetic excuses for human beings. stay on your island because we don't want you on the mainland where decent people like joe live. and hopefully when your volcano erupts and kills you i can stand at your grave and laugh while i tell your mom that you deserved it. because you do. joe didn't.

My dream has always been to visit Hawaii...however now that I see how cruel and insensitive the locals are...FORGET IT!
Yes, Joe caused this accident and believe me he would have felt awfull about it. None of us have any idea how or why he made this driving error but the comments you are leaving are horrible.
This young man was a loving and wonderful person who would never have hurt anyone intenionally for anything.
I thank God noone else was killed and I will mourn Joe forever. I cannot believe how cruel you people are...he did not deserve to die. Maybe one day when one of your "pefect" friends or families members dies you can tell us how they deserved to die but in the meantime rot in hell!

Hawaiian trash. You people must have been raised by wonderful parents to say somebody like this deserved to die. You couldn't be bigger scum. The kid has siblings and parents and friends that are extremely broken hearted right now. Whether it was a bad decision, or whatever the reason he decided to cross the double yellow line - What does it matter? If your son, daughter or sibling made a mistake like this and passed away, how would you feel reading those comments? Idiots. Grow the f*ck up, get off your computer and go swimming during the high tide.

i can not believe all of the horrible things you ignorant people are writing on here. joe was a friend of mine and he did not deserve this. he was a wonderful person. for all of you people who did not even know this man to say such horrible things infuriates me. his family does not need to see such harsh words during their time of sorrow. haven't any of you ever heard of an accident? they happen all the time. and i am sorry to those who were injured but at least they still have their lives.

For someone who reads the Bible your comment is very selfish. Donít cast too many stones, you might hit yourself in the process.

Yes he deserved to die for doing what he did, the people in the other car did not deserve to die.
If I may just say this one comment. NO ONE deserves to die. Everyone DESERVES to be forgiven. Just as God has forgiven you. NO matter the crime. Only in man's eyes that WE seem to determine what crime is worse than the other. Yes, there was life lost in this situation. But, to say someone deserves to die, you better watch out with what you say. Cuz, it will come back at you. The families involved need prayers and peace through this time. And as the saying goes "time will heal all wounds" but I know it will not be forgotten. But, in time. They will heal from this. And maybe you won't be so quick to make a judgement call like you did. God Bless.

"One less dumb "Brown" on the road Keep it up, Whites will take over by default." Don't be so quick to attribute bad driving to one race. Here in Honolulu and Hawaii Kai the speeders, fast lane changers, red light runners and line jumpers are all glow in the dark/haole el lay transplants. They too will die for their bad driving habits, but unfortunately will take some with them.

Joe won't be smashing into any more innocent drivers head-on, and the other drivers are relieved.
How can you expect people to feel sorry for him when he was perfectly willing to put others in danger just because he wanted to drive fast? He obviously had no concern for anyone else.

Joe Piekos was a very dear cousin of mine. This tragic accident devastated his family and friends to extreme points. I find it extremely shocking to hear the cruel words of those who "sigh in relief" for another possible threat that has been taken off of the road forever. Maybe next time you post a comment you should think of all of the people it will affect, and I hope you are ashamed of yourselves for the hurtful comments that have been written. Although you may not care that a beloved relative of mine was taken from this Earth forever, I hope that next time you will be more courteous with your words, and take into account all of the people who will be affected from it.
