@spongeworthy - Where in the world did you hear such nonsense? I've participated at a variety of services, activities and events at IHOP over the past five years and they do no such thing.

People at IHOP are a group of individuals dedicated to worshipping and loving Jesus Christ. I encourage you to visit them and see for yourself.

To find out more about IHOP,(lead by Mike Bickle), Google Mike Bickle, Kansas City Prophets, cult. This will fill you in on some of his activities in the 1980's and 1990's.

My opinion -- I would run as far and as fast as possible from anything lead by Mike Bickle.

I have a first cousin who was enrolled at IHOP and she was told that she had to constantly fast. She was scolded and ridiculed when she couldnt fast due to blood sugar level issues prevented her from fasting. She was ridiculed and belitttled for not having enough faith to be healed of the blood sugar level problems.
She finally gave in and fasted until she became sick and begged for someone to take her to the Emergency Room and not a single person there would take her to the ER. They told her if they took her to the ER she would be acting out of dis-belief rather than acting out of faith. And by them taking her to the ER they would be sinning against God by causing her to turn deny the gift of healing.
She finally wandered outside and found a complete stranger to take her to the ER and before she left one of the IHOP organizers told her not to tell any of the ER staff that she got sick because of fasting. Reason being the ER staff probably werent saved and they simply wouldnt understand and that the devil would use them to spread rumors that IHOP forced people to go without food until they became sick.

i was a member of ihop in lawrence Ma for close to nine months and witnessed first hand what a cult was they use the bible untill it contradicts there beliefs and they demiss the bible and go with there feelings they dont believe in speaking in order when tongues are spoken 1 cor 14:23-28 is quite clear on this matter no one to interpit them. god is not a god of confusion baptism of fire is another heresy there is only one batism of fire that is found in revelation luke chapter 16: 11 i believe and mathew. your shuned if you dont speek tongues the leader clames he is sinless or dosent sin anymore because he chooses not to please what else can i say except dont send here because her soul and spirit weight in the balance. there is no one rightouse no not one. says the lord. thats all

please stay away from them there is something that really disturbed me so much it was probably the reall reason I left ihop Lawrence Ma. I was in prayer one night march 21, 2014 contemporary christian music was playing very loud and the leader was praying in tongues under the music I heard him then pray in english and out of his mouth came the name SATAN Oh my God i said please god don't tell me what i just heard is true and no sooner i said that in pray i opend my eyes and he envoked the name of satan again I stayed a while longer and left out of there all that the ihop is a branch of the apostolic penticostal movement and satan worship if it is not of god it is of the enemy. ps when i fisrt met the leader i asked him the name of his fellowship he told me it was the internation house of prayer he said he had elders who he was acountable to who were they and were we ever gonna meet them all questions that concerned me . pray for decernment.

It's a whack-nut cult. You sign over all your assets to them and they dribble out enough for you to survive on. If you care for your niece, try to talk her out of it.
Sorry, but obviously you have no idea what you are talking about. Your comments are almost laughable. I am a woman older than the average and am a student at IHOPU and have been familiar with ihop for years. No one is forced to do anything and my money is my own. The comment about 'guards' is also amusing. There is security there just like other places have and I for one am thankful for them. It would be irresponsible to not have security at a place open 24/7! I never thought of having a place where you can go to pray and worship Jesus as a cult. Check it out sometime. You might enjoy it.

I have visited IHOP on a couple of occasions (not in the last 5 years, though) and I really enjoyed myself. I'll say this...I'm gay and that seemed to be an issue for people but it's usually an issue for most mainstream Christians anyway. I didn't run around throwing glitter at people but it doesn't take anyone very long to figure it out. Despite that, people were warm and friendly to me and very encouraging. The worship was beautiful and everyone was pretty approachable. Mike Bickle is so silly...I was taking a picture with some friends and he jumped in the picture with us. Hysterical.

I did read recently that some people associated with IHOP like Lou Engle and others were very vocal about the anti-gay legislation in Uganda that made it legal to arrest and kill homosexuals in Uganda, so that was a little alarming, but no one bullied or badgered me when I was there. So maybe some of their habits are a little strange to people - always fasting and most of the musicians don't keep any of the money they make off their albums and things; and they live "holy" lives according to their own revelation of what that means, but I suppose it's just like anything else. It connects with some people and other people have different expressions of their faith that may not look exactly like IHOP, and both of those things are okay.

If you're worried about it - go along with your daughter to see the school and the prayer center and if you have a creepy feeling about it share it with her. If you don't communicate then she'll never know what you're feeling or your concerns.
