On July 19, 1974, hundreds of thousands of young people from across the U.S. poured into the unsuspecting town of Sedalia for three wild days of sex, drugs and rock and roll - "No Hassles, Guaranteed" - from the likes of Aerosmith, The Eagles and Lynard Skynard.

I was eighteen It was really hot My friend I hitched to the festival with got really wasted and ran off into the crowd.I paced myself and only smoked pot. There was the sense of danger so I took refuge in the stands where I hooked up with a couple of little cuties. The three of us had a really nice time and they gave me a ride home on Sunday.Got home Monday morning and my friend rolled in a couple of days later

i was 11 years old. my family had just moved to green ridge. my dad loaded up the family and took us for a scene i will never forget. we drove to the house we had just moved out of and there was a man taking a crap in our old front yard.(the old country club addition). I also remember the constant line of hitchhikers on 50 and 65. bings had plywood on the plate glass to prevent anymore theft. i understand anyone wanting to see those great musicians. they are all of my favorites today!!

On July 15th 1974 I turned 16 and 3 days later I was on my way to Sedalia to see Bruce Springsteen for the first time when my cousins Cindi and Denise surprised me for my birthday and came by to pick me up to take me to the Ozark Music Festival. To this day it's still the best birthday present anyone has ever given me, the best 3 days of my life, even though Springsteen didn't even make it, his van broke down outside Chicago! I bought this poster there and displayed it at my rock 'n' roll collectibles shop, Forever Young, for many years. They mispelled Lynyrd Skynyrd on the poster.
I can't wait for the upcoming film by Dustbin so I can take my two cousins to see it and we can reminisce, remember and relive those 3 magical days where we all were blessed to be a part of rock 'n' roll history and witness the end of an era. I'm currently interviewing survivors of the festival for an upcoming book I'm working on to commemorate the 40 Year Anniversary of The Ozark Music Festival. If you have any interesting memories or stories, as well as any photos or home movies that you would like to share please contact me.God Bless
