Son, if you do join the military.... I have no doubt you will be successful. Your actions may not have saved your neighbor's life, but without you, he may not have had any chance at all. You're a brave boy. Your family must be incredibly proud of you.
I would imagine, after people read about Preston, every person on this planet would be proud! I hope the mayor of his town honors his bravery in some manner. This young man is a fine example of honor, heroism, and selflessness.

Thank you young man for reminding me that there are young people in our country that have good, healthy values; that actually cares about someone besides himself. Your selfless act may not have saved your friend/neighbor - but you saved a lot of people that have lost faith in our youth. Thank you!

That young man deserves the recognition for a job well done. As a former firefighter, I can tell you the things that go through your mind in a situation like that and it isn't always a pretty image.

I applaud and congratulate you Mr. Handsome.

It gave me great pleasure to read this article about someone so young willing to risk his life for a friend. Very sorry that the friend did not survive. This young man is definitely a HERO!! He offered the greatest gift anyone give -- the possbility of losing his own life to save another.

wow! I would certainly hope that my boys would do the same when faced with a situation like that! this story brought tears to my eyes, knowing what a good young man you must be to have risked yourself for someone else. That my dear, is a trait that most of us don't have. I am sure your Mother is beyond proud of you as is your community. You have many great things to give and I think this was only the first of the many great things you will do with your life. Keep on keepin' on buddy!

Preston, well done young man! Your selflessness, compassion, and bravery moved me to tears this morning when I heard your story and the positive effect your act of courage is having on all of us who now know you. Our prayers go out for your speedy recovery, for your family, and for the deceased.

Having grown up in the US military and having friends/family currently serving in all the branches of service, I know that you will be a great addition to any branch you chose.

I will reiterate what another poster commented, joining the Boy Scouts of America and earning your Eagle Scout rank will help you on your path to joining and having a successful military career.

God Bless You and Your Family For Raising Such A Great Young Man!

Brave child, please do not think your efforts were in vain. Even though your neighbor died, he was given the best chance possible to live, because of your heroic actions.

I am a stranger, but I'm proud of you. I am sure your own family, your community, and your neighbor's family are also very proud of you!

As far as your future dreams, the military would be LUCKY to have a fine young man such as yourself. Best of luck in everything you do.
