"Dressed in flowing robes and thorny crowns...."

They dressed up in his death costume to celebrate his birth??

Do they put on diapers at Easter?

What about those millions of holiday shoppers at the malls?

Those are an even bigger reminder that this holiday has nothing to do with religion any more and instead it has to do with materialism.

There is no war against Christians, if you want to celebrate Christmas you are free to do so at home, nobody is taking that right away from you.

Happy holidays!

I wish they would keep Christmas in the church...get it out of our collective consciousness so I don't have to hear another "Merry Christmas." I'm not a Christian so I don't celebrate it as I'm not a Jew and don't celebrate Hanukkah, and I'm not a muslim and don't observe Ramadan.
If you want to buy gifts and celebrate this time of year, then don't wrap it in a religious holiday...invent a new one like Winterfest or something like that.
This is a secular holiday in need of a new name.
Stop lying to your kids about Santa...it makes you look stupid when you tell them it's wrong to lie. Tell them up-front that it is a fairy-tale and not real. Imagination is one thing. You are stating that you are imagining something...you are not doing this with Santa...you are telling your kids he is REAL.

Christmas has NOTHING to do with Jesus!! More people are opting out of believing that crap and behaving and acting accordingly. Enough with the falsehoods in this country.

Just like up to 12% of wives tell their husbands that their child is a product of him ....... when in reality these women had it away with some lucky man who will not have to pay a cent for the child he fathered.

I know its wrong but I get such a laugh when a blood group test indicates a bit of hanky panky resulting in a child.

The fathers mostly are so shocked ........ but it still gives me a laugh.

By the way the wives depend on the husbands macho macho to not ask for a blood test when a child is born ...... most women would be up in arms if a blood test was asked for by their husband ....... and they play on that big time

Abraham was also the father of Islam.

Rather bland fiction in my view - but what the hell, millions of others eat it up.

To paraphrase a great movie.

Catholics don't celebrate their faith, they mourn it.

Festivus for the rest of us!

Christmas did not use to be celebrated in December. It was moved there to coincide with the Pagan celebration of the winter solstice in an attempt to convert them to Christianity. So there used to be a "Winterfest" but the Christians declared war on it and won.

Happy Chrismahannaquanzica!

Originally this festival was a pagan holiday with the decorating of evergreen trees and gift giving. The pagans celebrated the winter solstice which Christians now call Christmas.

Excerpt from my Officiant's Manual by R. A. Zorger: "In the fourth century AD, Christian authorities in Rome attempted to eliminate the pagan festivities by adopting December 25th as Christ's birthday. The effort was never completely successful, and eventually many Winter Solstice customs were incorporated into Christmas observances."

You can find a lot of information either at the library or on the Internet. I just bet Wikipedia tells you the origins of Christmas.

Anyhow I rejected Christmas for many years until I got to reading. And now I see it as a pagan holiday and the joy of celebrating the Winter Solstice. Also if you do a little research you will find that Jesus is a myth.

So happy Winter Solstice to all.

400 dressed like Christ???

That would make quite a kick line. A male version of the Radio City Rockettes or the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Imagine the healing in the gay community after Proposition 8 a Jesus Kickline could bring.

Or maybe all the Jesus wannabes would make quite a memorable scene in a Mel Brooks movie.

Jesus was not the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, because they all lived long before Jesus was a twinkle in...whatever.

Actually it was thought up by Fox's John Gibson to SELL his book about the supposed "war on Christmas" and the religious right ate it up. For being such a jerk, he was pretty smart to know that his main demographic were going to get their panties in a wad over this subject, so he milked it for all it was worth.

Thank God most of the "war on Christmas" garbage is not an issue this year.
